Anyone have any experience with the S&W Bodyguard .380 or the Sig P238? I need a small pocket carry and I am leaning towards the Bodyguard but keep reading good things on the P238.

When Obama took office, you were only paying $1.95 per gallon of gas...
Utah, apparently these are all the rage.

Have you considered the XD subcompact?

One thing to think of if you get a very small handgun, they are hard to hold on to. That's why I put this extra finger thing on my clip. Now I can hit something with it!
So make sure they have a good grip on them. This 32 is one of the lightest & flatest handguns on the market and it doesn't jam easy too.

@ Manny, the sub compact xd is still very thick. Great for carrying iwb , but sucks for carrying in your pocket.
@ Jim, yeah I'm familiar with the kel -tec, but I want something bigger than the .32 and I've heard multiple stories of their .380 jamming and having misfires . not what I want to hear for a selfdefense...

I'm telling you look into that Walther 380. I don't know how big you are but it fits in my pocket perfect. Has a super thin profile too.
You can see how thin it is here-

Thanks sealice , I'll look onto it . possibly going to a gun show tomorrow in Tampa. I'll. see of any vendor has one...

One thing I found out is that if a gun jams, sometimes it's because you holding the gun too light in your hand. Also try different brands of ammo. Sometimes hollow points will jam easier, I guess because it has that blunt nose and does't feed good.

also owning a SIG will prevent jamming issues.
im still pretty partial to a small revolver for a small pocket sized gun but if i had to pick semi-auto, id probably go walther too.
Just bought a g19gen4. Stoked.

He could've just used to to rob a store for a tv, o wait criminals only use legally registered firearms.

i have only heard of 1 first hand incident of a revolver "jamming" and it may have been due to a manufacturing issue per the gunsmith who told me:
- someone bought a new taurus revolver in .357. insert factory .357 round. pull trigger and it goes bang but apparently the cylinder couldn't handle the pressure of the round and ended up bulging/cracking. the cylinder got stuck and wouldn't rotate after that. when the smith who was shooting by the person examined it he said he saw signs of potential manufacturing issues that would have been present from day 1. owner was a first time gun owner who may have missed signs of this potential issue.
only other oddity i have seen on a revolver is on my own:
- the trigger on my own revolver gets a little stuck sometimes if you pull it in a very particular manner when cocked in single action that falls outside of normal use. has only happened dry firing. to fix it just tap the trigger again and it will reset. i suspect its b/c its still using its original springs and everything from the 70's and the little springs inside could be starting to wear out. have the replacement parts just need to open it up and replace the springs someday.
Now here's a gun with a kick! http://www.staged.com/video?v=q0eb

What I have to say to all that.
In all reality, I'm doubting this will pass, seemingly it violates your right to property and bear arms. Especially with no reimbursement? No way.
But my knowledge of shit is limited, as it comes down to you can come try and get my guns but your probably not walking away.
As a matter of fact, plan on purchasing a Wasr-10 Ak47 variant in the next few weeks anyone had any experience with such?
My son has one and it's a great gun, no problems with it too. Here's a video I just found on the ak47. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qprl...eature=related

Ah excellent. Thanks Jim. My brothers a hardcore AR guy, so I figured go against the grain and buy the commie machine B]
I've heard bad things about Century, and actually had to choose between the WASR and the Saiga and after some thought chose the Saiga, Bought it for $500, in the six months I had it I put $70 into it, then an I ended getting an offer for $650 for it. Not sure of the re sale values of the WASR but I do like the wood furniture!
Speaking of recoil Jim!

Was the Saiga you purchased one of the new ones accepting the standard 30rd mags? I too looked into Saiga's for awhile but was put off by the fact it only accepted their magazines which up until recently was only available in like 10 rd capacity.
It came with a factory 10 rd, and a old crappy pro mag that made the gun jam every round, but I bought a couple of the new pro mag 30rd's, which fed fine.
For the price you cant go wrong!, they also can accept optics with the side rail scope mount, not sure if the WASR can.
And lots of customization options http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/

My son has a M4, which is a newer version of the AR15. Anyway, I don't like the M4 for lots of reasons. I do like the AK though, and my son likes his AK better too. I heard back in the Gulf War, our guys would throw away their AR's after they jamed and start shooting a AK. Besides not jaming they have more knock-down power.

Yeah the newer WASR-10/63's come with a side rail mount so the scopes and etc can be put on them. The Saiga is definitely a nice piece but I think I'm gona go original on this one. Not a fan of "sport" stocks they have to make them legal to import.
Jim: yeah your talking a significant more amount of power but once you get off to a couple hundred yards the accuracy of the Ak vs that of the AR platform falls way off. Mostly due to the nature of the round itself, plus you can get 7.62x39 for dirt cheap.
believe it or not, 7.62x39 is actually pretty under rated in the accuracy department. try a cz 527, bolt action rifle in 7.62x39, 18 or so inch barrel. that thing is pretty accurate if given good commercial 7.62x39 or optimized hand loads. a shooting buddy of mine has one and we can hit golf balls and empty shotgun shells with it pretty readily out at 100 yards or more.
also LI, I fully encourage you to get a saiga. to allow the saiga to take standard ak mags if you install a "bullet guide", takes pretty minimal effort. you can still use the saiga magazine afterwards too if u grind down a tiny bit of the top of the front tab (the front tab is oversized in the saiga mags b/c that acts as the bullet guide), basically grind until it fits - it will take all of 5 secs with a dremel, 5 minutes with a file.
HOWEVER, don't be an idiot like me and go slow and don't force it when you are tapping the hole. the tap broke in mine b/c i tried to force it and the tap broke. back off like every half to 1 turn. and don't forget to use lots of oil. paid a machinist a little money and he got it out for me.
the sport stock is a bit more annoying to replace though b/c there aren't many good adapters out there. ie the one i got, i think it's from CAA, isn't very good. i know the vltor 1 is supposed to be good but its hard to find.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waj8aLz-xY4
first of a 3 part video series where a saiga rifle is converted into an ak style in about 40 minutes total, minimal or no editing, minimal tools. took me 4.5 hours without a vice, 1.5 of which were spent trying to reinstall the bolt hold open, another 1 hour setting up and cleaning up/tearing down a work area. at the time, i didn't have much experience with tools and had never worked on a rifle before.
