anyways, i got my beretta 22 recently. also have a .357 dan wesson revolver on the way soon too (paid for just need to wait for the waiting period/background check) - would have gone with the ruger gp100 if i didn't happen to find the DW. have a usp .45 coming in after that (also paid for, again waiting periods and background checks). and after that i let my bank account recover... i already got hookups on all of the above someway somehow in CA - i also have no idea how i managed to ahve enough money to buy the above.

also, jim or anyone else, any of you have a walther p99? i think i want to get one in 9mm when i have some more money again but i haven't heard that much about them.

as for shotguns my dad has a mossberg overall its not bad at all. if we didn't already have one for the money id either take one of those, remington 870, or a benelli supernova. we also have an old smith and wesson shotgun any of you know how much we might be able to get out of it - we never shoot it so we may as well let someone else use and enjoy it.

benelli m4. handled one... it was AWESOME. definitely worth the $.
saiga 12 - i dont know how, but my friend somehow got one legally in CA. i dont think id have a partical purpose for it but it was SOO fun.

and yes, i too would like some guns from ww2. shot an mp40 but didn't care for it too much. tommy gun was really fun but what i really wanted to try was the russian ppsh. unfortunately it broke a little before i was supposed to fire it the BAR looks like itd be fun too - doubt there is any way i could get a hold of the german stg's. didn't care much for most of the other stuff (ie british, etc).

USP .45's are so sick man. I dunno how set you are on getting the USP, but I just got a 1911 Remington .45 and I love it. I have a Springfield XD .45 that holds more, but the 1911 is just such a sweet shooting gun. I've put 2000+ rounds through it without a single jam.

I've handled a P99 and I liked it a lot. It takes some getting used to (as do most guns), but it's a reliable gun. You must have had some good experiences with the Supernova....I hate that thing. I feel like I'm shooting an airsoft gun or something plastic that could break at any second, and it didn't swing well at all to me. I'm really picky about shotguns though, so I guess I'm really just being dramatic.

As for Saiga's, check out www.redjacketfirearms.com. Red Jacket is an armory out of Baton Rouge featured on that show Sons of Guns. They're really well known around here (and nationally) for their quality Saigas. If you're looking at getting one, start there.

yes the supernova wasnt nice and solid like an 870 or many others in the same price range, but overall idk how it just seem to fit and work for me. i cant say in particular how it would feed etc etc since i didn't put enough through it to really say, but overall it was a good experience. plus its also a pump and if something went wrong, fixing it is usually just a pump away.

nice 1911. i will be getting one MUCH later on down the road. idk which/what yet, maybe a kimber since those are easy to get in CA, good quality, ok price.

and those saigas look nice but idk if i could get one into CA or afford it in the first place.

You definitely got me on the pump maintenance. Kimbers are great. I got my Remington for right at $650 with a Black Hawk.....and yeah, I couldn't afford one of those Saiga's either. I really have no use for one regardless.

A lot of people rag 1911's because of their weight, but I don't find it to be heavy at all. It could just be the Remington model, but as far as I know the majority of the 1911's are built to original Colt specifications. I could be wrong though...

I think the 1911 is THE sexiest handgun ever. I just wish the handle was a bit longer, Someone should make one with a longer handle so it doesn't feel like my hand is falling off the bottom. You might even be able to give me an extra round or two in the magazine while you're at it.

Walther's are good, but they are heavy, and yes there is something I don't have but would like, and that's a Glock handgun. I have heard for years that they are light and well made. Lots of police use them, I really have not heard of them using a Walther before.

I always loved the look of the Glock. But, for me, firing one was a totally different story. I wish I could remember the model, but it was a sub-compact .40cal, perhaps a 27. Identical to the pic below. Anyways, it was light as hell which was great, but I couldn't hold the thing steady at all and it really hurt my hands. Got really uncomfortable to practice with and hands constantly slipped off with such a short stock. So, definitely test one out or scoop a cheap one off CraigsList before spending too much.

i love my 870. mine takes 3 1/2 shells and... damn. i mainly use mine for trap/skeet. it's a great gun. The only other shotgun i would want is a remington 1100. they are damned heavy though, but i like of like it. It definitely swings better and feels more solid in my hands

I have always loved the look of the 1911. It is such an iconic classic gun with great safety features. I really want to pick up a Para-Ordnance Wathog
It is the smallest .45 with only a 4.5" height and 6" length. I'm all about practicality with my handguns. If I can't comfortably carry it concealed, then I really don't have an interest in it.

Also, the Walther P99 is a great gun, but very expensive. As jim said, you don;'t hear of police officers carrying them as a primary wepon, but a number of federal agents carry them!!

Speaking of pocket guns, I've heard that the Rogrbaugh R9 is an absolute machine when it comes to spitting out accurate 9mm ammo. Speaking with one guy who owns one, he said it was the best shooting 9 he has ever owned. Down side is, it cost close to $1200.

Personally my primary carry gun is a Kahr PM40
Its great in the sense that I'm comfortably able to carry the knock down power of a .40, but its not a very comfortable range gun. In other words, I would trust my life with it, but its a bitch to shoot.

Yeah, that's the way small handguns are, they are just hard to hold on to. That's why I put this extra finger thing on my clip. Now I can hit something with it! If you put one of these on that Glock I'm sure you would then love it.

yes, i used to not like glocks that much either (more distant past), everything about the gun just seemed to be a little bit off, including that grip angle that just really bugs some people. then recently i fired a glock35 (competition sized .40) and it actually felt really nice and was pretty fun. i guess the newer models had a lot of little subtle things changed and fine tuned (vs the old ones i handled) or i just grew more and it just fits now. the 35 also seemed to be fitted, finished, etc better than the glocks ive handled in the past. one last thing i did for lols was squeeze off the magazine of .40 as fast as i (safely) could and the kick was actually pretty easy to manage. made me decide i would like a glock20c (10mm) as well in the future (again i need to save more for other more pertinent things right now such as paying for my tuition).

Got my rifle and shotgun situation sured up. Remington 870 pump shotgun and a Marlin .22 bolt action. I def. need to get a pistol of my own, though. Really leaning towards a Colt .32 revolver, something about a revolver that I like a lot.

I really don't like handguns that much, even though I have a few. I do have a shit load of WWll rifles and newer shot guns though.

I dislike compact handguns. If you shave just an inch and a couple ounces off of a 9mm then it kicks more than a full-size 45. I'd rather send .45 caliber bombs downrange if they're going to kick the same. Besides, whipping out a huge gun is so much more American than that James Bond pea-shooter BS.

Ugh, no pics because I'm away at school and I left the damn thing at home in order to keep myself out of trouble. Its flippin' sweet though. It looks just like a burly potato gun except that its a bull-pup (combustion chamber is tucked underneath to conserve overall length) and it has a snug 1-1/4" barrel. When I built it I had no idea my friend would surprise me with a huge box of dead D batteries from his work, so we ended up with way more ammo than I anticipated. The only two things that have been able to stop it so far were a tree and a cement wall. Tables don't stand a chance... Neither do aluminum trash cans, fence boards, garden sheds (shhhh), 2x6's etc. I've got my eye out for microwaves and monitors.

(The fence-board / garden shed was actually a two-for-one if you can believe it. That was the first time I test fired the thing, and the last time I fired it within city limits).

I'll take a pic or two next time I'm home if I remember. It indeed works just like a potato gun with just a little extra oomph and efficiency from a fully sealed, electronic twin ignition. It still runs off of a single barbecue button too! On the next model I'm going to see how skinny I can go with the electrode screws in order to see if I can get three or even four ignition points on the same amount of juice from a single button.

I've seen those small extenders, but that damn gun was still a pain in the ass. Two friends just picked up sub-compact Springfield XD40 .40cals and I can fire them easy as hell, even with one hand. It's like penguinofsleep mentioned, something about that Glock 27's stock is very odd and just makes it really uncomfortable to use. I know sub-compacts will always have those short stocks, but the XD40 is fun and easy to shoot, while that Glock 27 is the total opposite.

thanks for the tip penguin. seems like we've had similar experiences. i will look at the 35 and 20c next time. and i do the same one handed tests on guns too. i just feel if i can manage with one hand to keep it fairly steady, then it's a gun i could use in more situations seeing as how if something bad ever happened, i'm not going to have the perfect setup and safety of a gun range in real life. with that Glock 27, it would definitely fly out of one hand. i had no choice but to hold it with both.
