Default Just Saw Broken Social Scene

Words cannot even describe how fracking amazing that show was. The show was in Pompano Beach, Florida in some hole in the wall shitty club place. The place was hardly bigger than a postage stamp, standing room for maybe 500 people. Got there at 6:30, got trashed before going in when the doors opened at 7:00. Once I was inside I sat on the floor at the fence for 2 hours until Land of Talk came out. They played an hour long set that wasn't all that great. Their drummer was pretty damn good which saved it for me. They got off the stage at like 9:50 and then BSS came on at 10:20. At this point I had sobered up to the point where I could fully appreciate the music and it was phenomenal. I don't remember all the songs they played but what I remember them playing was, 7/4(shoreline), Ibi Dreams of pavement, anthems for a 17 y/o girl and almost crimes. After About an hour they all left the stage and their saxophone player did an awesome rendition of the Voices of the adults in Charlie Brown. When they all came back out they said they were going to play until they got kicked out as it was the last show of their US Tour. In the second half they played fracked up kid, and fire eyed boy and a couple more from their new album that I couldn't place. Then to top it all off they ended the show with a 15 minute rendition of it's all gonna break. I had been fracking praying that they were going to play it and then for the last song they asked the crowd what they wanted to hear and I fracking shit a brick when they started to play it. Keep in mind the whole time I was on the fence within spitting distance of the whole band. At about 4:30 in its all gonna break when the horn section came in, it was fracking unbelievable, the trumpet player was directly in front of me. It was amazing. The line up consisted of Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Elizabeth Powell, Justin Peroff and Andrew Whiteman and friends.

All in all it was probably the greatest experience of my life. 2 Hours of Broken Social Scene live goodness. I'm gonna be in a good mood for weeks.

I still can't even come close to expressing how good it was. I've had a perma-grin since I left.

You just had ur period ehhh?

Just joking but sounds like it was a sick night.... each summer there is a "Blues/Rock" tour in a local village/town near by... blues on the beach, rock in the bars... blues in some more high-classed clubs etc... Same experiences... some of the bigest national and even a couple of international bands play there. The best thing is that most of it's for free!

It's free? Thats killer. I dropped $45 to go see them but it was well worth it.
One thing that I really enjoyed when I visited New Orleans a year or so back was that you could walk down the street for a mile and see/hear 5 or 6 bands just jamming because they enjoy it. The pure unadultered creativity that you get with street performers and local acts is just awesome.

I really didn't like Brendan Canning..

He seemed like such a nerdy disco man, I can hear it in his voice now that I saw him and it sucks!

Well most of it is... Some bars ask a small entree fee though... "Blues By the Sea" is really good though... Just hanging out with friends having a beer while you get to hear some good music... Good way to spend a evening before going to a club and hooking up with those hot tourist german chicks (yes there can be hot german girls!)

But $45 seems a lot. How many bands were there in total and how long was the playing time?? A good music festival with the bigest names (Joss Stone, Killers, Metallica, etc.) costs like 75 euros for an entire day. In that time you can see like 5 big bands and a few smaller ones...

the 45$ included gas money down there and alcohol. The tickets were only $22 plus gay a ticketmaster charge of $8.

Land of Talk played for an hour and BSS for 2.
