    Default Roush peeled edge!

I was skimming at Baker in SF today, (it was pretty nice) and at the end of the day I run out and all of a sudden the board just stops so naturally I go flying forward and I thought that I had just caught an edge in the sand...well I did the only problem is it peeled back the bottom of my board about an inch and a half in. I've only had this thing about two months so naturally I was pretty upset.

I'm looking for a good fix. Right now I'm just going to get all the sand out of the crack and make sure its good and dry, then lather it up with epoxy and use some 2x4 on either side of the board and press it together with a vice until it dries, than sand it back down afterward. Do you guys have a better method? Also is there a specific type of epoxy that you recommend? Thank you for your help.

there is epoxy resin and polyester resin.
    use epoxy.
you sound like you know how to fix it. some other board builders on here might know some tips, but i think you have the right way.

I don't know if I understand your fix or not. But you're going to have to put some sort of barrier (parchment paper, saran wrap?) between the 2x4's and the board, or else the wood will most likely bond to the board if the epoxy contacts the board, and the wood.

I think they have a wax that you can put on material to stop it from sticking as well but I'm not totally sure.

I would say contact Roush as well, it can't hurt.

happens to alot of surftech epoxy rastas
(well not alot, but its not some new uncommon thing)
take it to roush, hell put a new layer on the problem thats super gnarly wont ever get scrathed, and give you your board back.

Nice, Thanks guys. Yes I had already e-mailed Roush about it however since he does live in SC and I'm going up next weekend maybe he'll help me out. Does anyone know an email address to reach Roush besides the info@roushwhatever one that is on the website? because that is what I sent my email to.

IslandBoy-Thanks for the tip I didn't think of that, Maybe something like wax paper would work?

SskimC- Do you think he'll have a fix for the foam as well? because since the bottom peeled off its taken some pretty serious chunks out of the foam, there is also a lot of sand embedded in the foam as well.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

If this happens to your board, be it any brand. And the company will not help you this is how to fix it. Just go get some epoxy from about any store. Then the most important thing is you must get ALL the sand out, let it dry out real good. Then here's the hard part, you need to hold the board up high and then get a thin long knife or maybe a hacksaw blade. And work the knife in the crack and let the dry sand fall out. When all the sand is out keep the knife in the crack and work the epoxy in. Then pull the knife out, and squeeze out the extra epoxy. Before you clamp the wood blocks down, put masking tape down first, and if you get epoxy on the board, just pull up the masking tape.

You put epoxy in a crack and it came apart???? Maybe you didn't get enough epoxy in the crack or maybe you did'nt let it dry long enough. Also did you mix it right? some are 50/50 mix and some are not. Also if the foam is wet it will not stick.

I just got an email back today from Andrea and she says she will be contacting Roush about it and it will be taken care of. I am incredibly impressed with the prompt and personal response that I received, I'm really excited to see how everything turns out.

heavyheavylowlow666- Thanks a lot man, if Roush doesn't email me back I will be sure to PM you.

Pete123- Ya that's definitely me with the ugly face on, chilling with the dog . I swear I was trying to throw the ball for him but he wouldn't let go of it . That isn't when the board broke though. This picture was taken on Saturday and I had gone back Sunday and that was when it broke. As for Baker it was pretty massive on Saturday, way too big and breaking way to hard to ride. There were also old naked men and women everywhere which made it pretty burly. On Sunday though things were great. It was the best I've seen in about a month of going to SC and SF, so I was pretty happy about it. I'm going camping with some friends in SC next weekend you should come down (or maybe you shouldn't because as far as I've seen it sucks ass there right now :/). But after that from now on I think Baker will be my new home for the next 5 months, PM me if you want to meet up somewhere.

SsKimC - Ya I talked to my dad today also and he said that there might be some problems with using the epoxy with the foam. I'm really banking on Roush being able to help me out.

The best thing I've used for epoxy boards (havent tried it on polyester or vinylester boards) is Devcon Plastic Weld. It bonds to most plastics and wont crack. The only downside to it is that it's a cream color. Works much better for dings than just epoxy. I've seen it at Ace and Orchard Supply, and maybe Kragen Auto.
