But it just so happens that tonight I picked up a case of:

Its my first time having it, and I really like it. The aroma is phenomenal and matches the taste - big citrus. But there's alot of other shit going on too. I'm not going to pretend to be able to identify all the different flavors, but this brew ain't no one-trick-pony for sure. The price is reasonable, and if its available it just may be in my "rotation".
Cool! I read about the Big Eye IPA just the other day and thought it sounded interesting.

Its another cool, crisp, sunny day down here. I think I am going to have a few of my Dicks Cream Stouts from Dicks brewery in Centralia Washington. I wonder what the hell they were thinking when they named a beer Dick Cream? Regardless, its a solid, not spectacular Milk Stout, with sweet, rich, dark chocolate, burnt coffee, and smokey flavors and a perfect creamy mouthfeel for a day like this.

I am heading to Galveston Island's Oktoberfest (Ike's Over Fest this year) today. Rightfully so, I am enjoying Ayinger Oktoberfest. About as solid as it gets. Drikability is off the charts.

I really want to try some of Ballast Point, in particular, their Dorado Double India Pale Ale! Heard some great things about it.

Just try it black... Im not claiming that it is amazing, but for Budweiser its great. Nice actual flavor and richness you usually dont find in their products.

If you liked that, you should really try some craft American Pale Ales. Obviously the quintessential one is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. But there are plenty of others.

It wont be like your normal Bud. American Ale is an Ale, while Bud is a lager. Furthermore, American Ale is brewed with a greater amount of florally / bitter hops like Cascade or Columbia, while Bud is hopped with a European hop like Hallertau and Saaz. Long story short, the American Ale is going to have a stronger hop presence that what you may be accustomed to, but fear not, for you may find out that you are a hop-head.

Those of you all who enjoy American Ale should follow Wadsworth's advice and give a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale a shot, I would also recommend Dales Pale Ale or Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale.

I just drank a home-brewed Belgian Witbeir. I saw many of you discussing Blue Moon. Blue Moon is a domestic Witbeir. If you all like those, then you may enjoy Unibroue Blanche De Chambly. Its brewed in Quebec, and is an amazing beer that I use as a gate-way beer for many of my friends who are new to the beer world outside of Bud / Miller / Coors.

    1) Pumpkin Beers are great this time of year. MY favorite is Dogfishhead Punkin Ale.

    2) The beer selection in the Caribbean is rather limited. Carib runs most of the game in the Windwards and Leewards with breweries in Tobago and St Kitts. Banks is in Bremuda. Callo is in Cuba. Kalic is the beer in the Bahamas. I spent much of my younger years cruising around on my parents sailbaot and enjoying these beers. They are solid Macro-style (read Carona / Bud, etc.) lagers. Some of the French Islands get Leffe on draft with is solid.

Left Hand Twin Sister DIPA is a solid DIPA. Grab a bomber if you see it around and you enjoy a nice balanced piney (mild tropical citrus) hop forward big beer.

I love Sierra Nevada actually. Ive been drinking it for a while though... thats why I didnt mention it.

The first time I ever had it was in Kauai when some locals offered me a few during a night of gnarly ukulele jams and great conversations... everyone seemed so accepting and laid back. It was quite different from the 8 days I spent in Maui, though. Being called a haole just walking to the supermarket is just ridiculous. I also met Aaron Fujimoto on day there although back he was a bit more low key at the time. frack I miss that place... and that beer.

I agree since I like to keep things simple and cheap like Bud or Miller, but many domestics are priced the same so I like to mix it up. A sixer of Yeungling Lager/Black and Tan, Honey Brown, Rolling Rock, or Michelob Amber Bock to name a very small few are still $4.91. I hardly ever fall into a routine though considering Im only 22. I still have hundreds of different beers to taste.

$4.91!!!!!!! Holy shit. I used to buy sixers of Busch pounders back in college from a local dive bar and they were $4.75. I thought that was as steal.

Pretty sure Busch is the same price... all "popular" domestics are similarly priced while natty, pabst, old milwaukee, genesse, and so on are about $6 a 12pack. The only thing I dont understand is that a 30pack of these domestics vary up to $7 (Busch/Beast $15-16 - Bud/Coors $20-23)

You have to look at the market. People who have enough money to buy beer by the 30 pack will generally opt for the "higher" quality of Bud or Coors. While people who are of very limited means will only buy beer by the six or twelve pack, and opt for the cheapest. Its amazing how much money has gone into researching the minute price points amongst the shittiest of beers.

I drank Deschutes Jubelale tonight with grilled Rib-Eyes, roasted potatos, and a salad.

The Jubelale is a great winter warmer (christmas ale) Anyone in a cold West Coast environment should give this a shot!

Our Lager, which art in barrels, hallowed be thy drink,
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk?),
at home as in the tavern.
Give us this day our foamy head,
    and forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us,
And lead us not to incarceration,
    but deliver us from hangovers,
    For thine is the Beer,
    the Bitter and the Lager,
    Forever and ever.
    Barmen.

luff showed me that thought it should be posted in here

Give the Kona Pale a go too. IMO, better than Longboard Lager.

Not the best IPA but pretty good. And I love the label. Bought a couple cases cause it was on sale. Def not worth $18.99 for 12, but 9.99, hell yeah.

I like IPA's. Full taste and high alcohol volume ftw.

Never understood people claiming to get wasted off light beer, you'd have to drink a ton with the low alcohol volume.

I made a 12% abv ciderwine that tasted like champagne last year. Still have a case in the pantry. That will sneak up on you.

I am a hop head through and through. Like I prolly already said, I have drank myself out of house with Green Flash's West Coast IPA, Avery Maharaja and Stone Ruination lately. We have a great local IPA made by Saint Arnolds (Elissa IPA) and two more f/ Austin (Full Moon Rye Pale Ale and Live Oak IPA).

The Sawyer twins know their shit when it comes to beer, huh?

This could be the SOMBA beer thread of the year.

ive tried the american ale, nothing special. just bud trying to get a piece of the micro brew pie. for all the hop heads ive seen on here(real beer drinkers) try the new sierra nevada 12th anniversary wet hop ale and the anderson valley hop ottin ipa, i used to be a stone brewery only guy but these two are fantastic.
