Default Best New Beer You've Tried

The goal of this thread is two fold:
    1) Allow those of us who can legally drink beer to share our recently imbibed beer.
    2) Introduce others, not familiar with beer outside of the normal Bud / Miller / Coors, to something different and encourage you to try something new.

I am drinking a De Proef Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale. Its a Belgian ale brewed with a wild yeast strain (Brettanomyces). Its taste is reminiscent to a belgian strong pale ale (think Duvel) but with an earthyness (funk) which is a classic signature of the Brett.

We have east coasters and west coasters on here, both big beer areas, so share you best new beer.

Oh sorry its a Czech lager. Kinda taste similar to Heineken. I also have good memories of it cause I was in Prague for their beer festival which was awesome since it was around 70 cents for a pint of beer.

Stone Arrogant Bastard! Nice choice. I have a few 12 oz. Oaked Arrogant Bastards in my beer fridge right now, along side some Stone Ruination! Are you still close to Stone? Want to get me some Stone Vertical Series (i.e.-08.08.08, 07.07.07, etc!)

    Laotian beer.

Time magazine named it the best Asian beer of 2004, so it has something going for it.

Wife is still not home from work... I polished off the 22 oz. bottle of 9% Belgian Wild Ale, I think its time for something tamer. I am struggling to decide between home-brewed Belgian Sour Witbeir that I inadvertently infected with Bret (it was fermenting next to my Beir De Guarde which is fermenting with Brett), or a Green Flash West Coast IPA.

Hell yeah. Just had Sierra Nevada's Harvest Fresh Hop Ale 22oz, moved over to a Texas craft, Southern Star Pine Belt Pale Ale. About to head out to a local beer bar/restaurant for a pizza and some fresh Sierra Nevada Harvest on draft.

But, best new beer I have had is actually an old beer. Smuttynose Imperial Stout aged over a year in the cellar. Shared it with Rob the day after my wedding two weeks ago. SICK!

I'm liking Newcastle right now. I'm also growing a good taste for regular old Sam Adams Lager, and the Octoberfest is badass.

    And for lighter beers:

Molson Canadian. It's like a Miller Light with more flavor. Miller Light meets little brown ale.

I'll have to try this out when I'm in ATL. I've been going a lot lately.

It's damn good. Tastes like a mix between a summer ale and a dark lager. (hence "october" I'm sure)

Very flavorful, but still smooth. Like smooth enough to chug I guess if you wanted.

I gotta say right off the bat... good to have another beer geek on the boards (that goes for your bro, too).

Personally, I don't really have too much of a palate for Belgians. Not that I dislike them, I just have a really strong preference for "big" American Ale styles. I did, however, have a Fin Du Monde not too long ago (Belgian Trippel) and I really enjoyed it. Its true character seemed to develop as it warmed, and I was surprised by its hop content. I would certainly drink another, and it could be the beer to help broaden my appreciation of different styles.

But it just so happens that tonight I picked up a case of:

Its my first time having it, and I really like it. The aroma is phenomenal and matches the taste - big citrus. But there's alot of other shit going on too. I'm not going to pretend to be able to identify all the different flavors, but this brew ain't no one-trick-pony for sure. The price is reasonable, and if its available it just may be in my "rotation".

There's a good chance you've handled my ass-pennies. That gives me the edge.
