I've had a couple bottles, one when it was originally released and one a couple months later...the first bottle i bought ($10.99 in CA) was awesome for what it was, a novelty brew, worth the $11 (I posted about it a month or two ago). I bought the second bottle for family to try and it was completely different, tasting watered down compared to the original, I'm assuming from sitting for so long. Not sure if it's true but I heard it was only released in one or two batches so the bottles you find now may be old and the original flavor too dissipated to really see what the flavor intention was. I say its worth trying one if any fresh bottles are being sold or if you are really into bacon & maple syrup, otherwise an aged bottle isn't worth your $14.

Had some nice finds last week and some luck while working in Sonoma. I walked into Sonoma Whole Foods, not even for beer, and was surprised by the craft selection. They had a ton of out-of-state beers and the whole Russian River line-up, including rows of Pliny, stocked up like it wasn't no thang, so awesome.

Stopped by the Dogfish Head Brewpub last weekend and had a few beers with lunch. Was looking forward to trying a few things on draft; namely Festina Peche, 75 Minute IPA(cask), and My Antonia. Got to try the Festina and My Antonia, I've had both several times in bottle but it's always fun to compare the draft version. Unfortunatley the 75 Minute cask had kicked the day before, it was replaced with a brewpub exclusive, Konichiwit.

When the dude was describing Konichiwit to me I honestly didn't know what to think of it but figured I should give it a shot, as I'd likely wouldn't have another chance to try it. Brewed with ginger root and fresh wasabi and instead of using orange peel for the citrus notes used the Japanese Yuzu. I was actually blown away at how drinkable this beer was. It drinks like a standard Wit Beer but has just a hint of spice from the ginger and wasabi and the Yuzu actually gives it a bit of a piney aroma. If you ever get the chance to try it I highly recommend it.

    Picked this up today.

Say Hola to a spiced up ale full of cocoa and ancho, guajillo, chipotle peppers. But don’t fear the heat, because plenty of caramel and chocolate malts bring a smooth, complex flavor to our Cocoa Molé. Scents of cinnamon when poured will have you saying, “ˇOlé for molé!”

I had the DFH version. The victory version was on my shelves but I passed. It wasn't amazing, but it was enjoyable. I tried it after hearing it was worth buying for the unique factor. My past review I said I was clean and crisp...refreshing...lemon, pepper, and herb stand out.

I enjoyed the DFH version. Great summertime beer in my opinion. Very crisp and refreshing. I would caution though that if you don't like fresh herbs (we cook with fresh herbs a lot, so we do like them) then its probably not a beer for you.

Hey ,ThatGuy, you been to the VB Total Wine since they moved? Place is frackin huge now. I was so overwhelmed when I went in today I didn't know what to do with myself.

Only came out with a bomber of New Belgium LOF Tart Lychee today. Figured I keep up the LOF streak and try another one, I also want to give the La Follie a try, but it's a bit expensive.

Also had a Founders Red Rye PA... Was very yummy.

I actually live on the Peninsula so I go to the Bad News Total Wine. A dude I work with was in there recently, though. He said it was really nice. That beer looks really good, by the way. I might have to get my hands on that.

Beer Olympics 2012!! Just participated in it this past weekend representing Team Norway. I was a last minute substitute as my buddies team mate bailed on him the day before. I literally had no desire to compete because drinking large amounts of bud light has not sounded appeasing to me for quite some time, but all in all, it was a really fun day. Dressed as vikings and competed in Corn Hole, beer pong, flip cup, boat race, rock-em sock-em robots, rock paper scissor and most importantly, Das Boot.

The boot was intimidating as frack. It was a 1L boot and both you and your team mate had to chug your own like a relay, once one is finished, then the 2nd can start. My buddy can chug, but I have never been able to just open my throat (yea for no homo). But we made an impressive showing. He slammed his in 15 seconds and I got mine in 38 seconds. I shit you not, slamming 1L of beer that quickly fracks you up. Not just drunk wise, but its a combination of getting punched in the gut while simultaneously having to take a shit. Unfortunately our combined time of 53 seconds was 3/10ths off from a Bronze medal. The first place this year was 32 seconds combined and the record for this event was set two years ago at 17 seconds. Shit is crazy. We did manage to get a 1st place though in Boat Race. All in all it was a fun time, might even do it again next year...

here's a list of beers I tried in France:

    Desperados, desperados red
biere demi-peche (amistel with a peach syrup)
    Amistel
    Carlsberg
    Kronenbourg
    Pelforth
    Wendelinus
    Loirette (local beer from Blois)
    Guiness
    Konigsbacher

Over all Amistel, and Desperados were my favorite beers. I could drink demi-peche all day but i'm not sure you guys would consider that a beer.

Konigsbacher was by far the shittiest beer i have ever had. It came in a 50cl can and was 90 cents in euros, i chugged a little bit of it and then poured it out in the Seine. That should never should never be bought by anyone.

Finally got my hands on Saison du buff. Very intersting beer. Can definitely taste and smell the rosemary. I am enjoying it for sure, glad I finally got it.

On a super positive note, my Total Wine got ten more cases of Festina in this week. BITCHIN!

Started last night with Cigar City Maiden Voyage IPA. This was CCBs first beer brewed in the brewery. Ill call it Jai Alai Light. Shares several qualities with Jai Alai but was much more subdued. One of the poorer beers ive had from CCB.

Then had a SN Southern Hemisphere Harvest

Ended things with Cigar City Cucumber Saison. Very good beer. Hard for me to finish 25oz myself at the bar though. Out in the hot Florida sun, I think it would be easily manageable.

Yea I had it on draft a while back when they did a lil Florida brewery get together before a Gainesville beer festival.

They started shipping out bottles around Florida a couple weeks ago and every store and some bars up here got some which was great. Its very good if you like cucumbers, because the cucumbers really stand out. I could sit by the pool and drink lots of it.

I almost grabbed a bottle of the cucumber saison last time at Total Wines purely cause it sounded refreshing in the Florida sun. Kind of disappointed mow that I didnt. Also disappointed Maiden Voyage sucked. Is that the one that was brewed "accidently"? I was reading a promotional piece from CCB that was talking about a new beer that accidently turned out to be something else than what they were originally shooting for, but the finished product was so great they kept it and will be shipping it out soon. I can't remember all of the details though...

I'm currently out on Eastern Island trapped in a house for 10 days with nothing to do but ride bikes, play pool volleyball and drink beer; it seems that, thus far, I have been doing nothing but the latter.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Company - Mother Barrel Select - American wild ale aged in Oak barrels. This sour black ale is a blend of 4 years worth of barrel aged ales.

Captain Lawrence Brewing Company - Hops N' Roses - American wild ale brewed with rose hips, elderflowers and hibiscus; aged in oak barrels.

Prior to leaving, I was in the midst of finishing up and trade, and had arranged for my box to be shipped to my aunt/uncles summer house. The goods arrived yesterday.

    Ithaca Beer Co. LeBleu (E!041)
    Ithaca Beer Co. Brute (E!037)
Russian River Brewing Company Temptation (Batch 006)
Extra homebrew/soon to be official brew - Ryeson Rogue: A saison that is brewed with cherrywood smoked rye malts and aged on Brettanomyces
Extra homebrew/soon to be official brew - Berry Nice Tripel: A soured tripel aged on raspberries and blackberries

I ended up drinking the two home-brews last night, along with the RR Temptation. Both home-brews were really great. The Ryeson was a really interesting concept of smoke/sour/funk. Russian River's Temptation was definitely the best sour that I have tried from them. The chardonnay barrels brought out a bunch of bright fruit notes in both the aroma and taste. I would definitely drink that over Supplication or Consecration (which are two amazing beers).

A shit ton of canned Jai Alai (84,000 cans)! Just the start of the CCB canned series.

This local bar does Take-it-home Tuesdays where you can take home glassware/other merch from the featured brewery, which they have 5-6 taps for. They canceled that for a Hoptimum keg on tap this past Tuesday. Also had some Lucky 13, Victory Hop Wallop, Deviant Dales (can), and CCB Togobaga (bottle) before the keg went on..yummm. Got some glassware everytime I ordered Hoptimum for $6. Glassware I get anywhere from stores from $2.50-$5 when I rarely buy it...so I was drinking Hoptimum for between $1 and $3.50.

Whole foods has an amazing beer selection. Just picked up a BRUX, a Russian River and Sierra Nevada collaboration yesterday. Now I have to buy another one and age it. The label says it all: dry, grassy, needs aging. Never paid 14$ for a beer before. Just finished a Hoptologist DIPA earlier, the smilarity to Pliny is high but I still don't understand why it won the tasters choice award OVER Pliny as my description would be 'a watered down Pliny'. Now I'm drinking a Boatswain chocolate stout, but I can't say I enjoy it much.
    And then?

Currently drinking a Harpoon Leviathan DIPA...I'd say it's middle of the road. Nothing special and the price isn't good enough to make it a 'go to' beer, but was worth the try.
