"I will see you either in hell or communism."
Dammit, Anthony! I went to the store this morning in hopes of finding that, but to no avail.
Glory is the reward of valour.
None at my store this morning.
So I'm guessing that's not your photo...or did you buy $75 of festina and are buying $200+ more soon LOL? I am looking to grab whatever my shops get. Probably something like 12-16 bottles IF i can Even find that much. Can't really finance that much beer as it will prob be 10-12 for the 4er.
And frack...I'm leaving town this week...I guess I'll have to grab some when I get back if it's reached here by then. Im also looking for Cigar City Homefront IPA which is a new collab coming out.

nope it is definitely his photo. you can tell by the gay martini glass swag

Yuck! I am not a fan of the festina...
Beachbum, as an east coast guy, I'm curious of your impression of Pilney. I hear so much about it but have never had it since its not sold in Florida...
When Obama took office, you were only paying $1.95 per gallon of gas...
Utah- i had it the night i got it! One of the best beers I've tasted. For the style, probably the best. It had similar qualities I found in Sculpin IPA, which was prob at the top of my ipa list...Which reminds me, I have another bomber of sculpin..and need to go back to the place where I once found it (the only time I've been there).
Some beers out there are hype due to rarity or reputation..this is not. Though I'm an east coast guy, I tend to align my desires with the west coast style of ipa/dipa/iipas that pack on the hops..despite not being able to get my hands of many of the top beers for the style.
The smell was great- pine, citrus (grapefruit mostly), and i caught a nice mango smell too with some sips. Though I love IPAs that are over the top hoppy and bitter, this is not. It has a great hop profile without being overwhelming- the 100 IBUs is hidden well, and the sweet malts smooth things out. It was very drinkable- could of fooled me for 8per. I could go for another and probably another. Through a typical beer sitting I'll find a few sips that aren't as enjoyable, or a really boozy finish after it warms a bit- not here...every smell and every sip was enjoyable from start to finish. I was saying "wow" out loud to myself several times. Smooth, juicy, crisp...and the balance of a beer like this really does it for me. Anyone can make an IPA with a insane hop smack, or a weak ipa with too much malts leaving you desiring more hops, but it's hard to make a beer that stands out like this.
That, or the above is all a lie and I was paid by RR as a beer rep to write that.

All these beers are gay. Man the frack up and drink a bud light lime
I would aspire to be me if I wasn't already
That is indeed my photo.
Berliner's are possibly my favorite style of beer and finding a decent representation of the style is almost impossible; in my opinion DFH hit a home run with what they were going for with Festina. Thus, I will be seeking out as much of this as I can for immediate consumption and aging.
I talk about Berliners so much that I inspired Dan to brew me a batch of dragon fruit berliner.
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
DFH doesn't recommend aging the festina, or any of their beers, beyond 3-6 months unless the beer is 9-10abv and up.
Though, I was reading where a guy opened it feb of the next year and said it tasted great.
A lot of people hate the festina. I enjoy it. It's fracking 94 degrees this week in Florida. I want a light, enjoyable, drinkable beer by the pool. I would drink 10 of them if I hand my hands on 10.
Also, you need to frackin redecorate, stat. Also, frack your dragon fruit Berliner...Dan is brewing me a durian fruit Berliner...mmm mmmmm
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2010
isnt durian fruit that fruit that smells like death?

Opening a speedway tonight. Yum.
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
Yes, but supposedly tastes good. I can't imagine the beer being enjoyable, but I researched and people have/have pondered brewing it.
That speedway bottle is a monster. I need to find a friend that wants to have a drinking session and split something they have to offer
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2010
Its definitely manageable solo. I find myself sipping down a 750ml of speedway in about an hour.
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
O RLY? Nice.
I've been having a beer or two a day, minus a couple days here and there, but I haven't had a beer in several days as I am in the woods in the middle of nowhere. Craving a beer so bad.
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2010
I always try to share Speedway. Not because I'm scurred of it, but because its just so fracking good it begs to be shared. Anytime I have it I'm just like "OMFG, you gotta try this stuff!"
There's a good chance you've handled my ass-pennies. That gives me the edge.
I buy way more than I consume, which is good because it has allowed my "cellar" to grow considerably. I usually only have 1 or 2 bottles a week (22oz or 750mls). Working at a craft bar has helped me out considerably as well - I hate drinking while working because it makes me extremely tired, though I do get to try a pint or open a bottle of anything new that comes into the place for free; also, I've acquainted myself with several local brewmasters and their wholesale reps, which has yielded an immense amount of free bottles.
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
Its funny, anthony thinks he has a cool story, bro.

This was absolutely delicious.
I drank about 6 oz from the glass and the rest from the can. Much more enjoyable from the can, as recommended.

Almost tempted to get a speedway to crush solo tonight b/c of the inspiration this thread holds. . .

Do it! Don't be a pussy.

I crushed one the other night and it was delicious.

I just might have to this weekend when I return.

I dubbed last weekend blueberry beer weekend, as I consumed both my DFH Black & Blue and the Shipyard Smashed Blueberry.
This years Black & Blue was much better than I remember. I felt the heat of the alcohol was nowhere near intense, as it was last year, and the tart of the blackberries really shined. Very sweet smell with blackberry tart on the tongue followed by the distinct blueberry and a little bit of alcohol heat afterwards. Really glad I picked this one up this year. I'm not sure if my palate has evolved that much over the course of a year or Dogfish got a handle on the balance of this brew.
Then it was time for Xenjoiii's favorite!
This one really caught me by surprise. I know it says it's a mix between a porter and a scotch ale, but I wasn't really expecting such a big beer. The blueberry flavor actually caught me off guard on the first sip, and I nearly didn't drink anymore. I gave it a minute to settle and had another go at it. I have to say this one got really good as it warmed a little bit and the porter-esque flavors came out. This was another good beer to have and I recommend it to anyone that wants to try something a little different then a run of the mill porter.
Glory is the reward of valour.
the smashed blueberry is awesome. i've been cellaring one for 6 months waiting to see how it develops
"Give a man a beer, he'll drink for the day. Teach a man to brew, he'll be drunk the rest of his life."
Yes! Smashed Blueberry was really good.
Great review on the Black & Blue. I loved it last year and was hesitant about picking up a bottle this year, but after reading that I feel that I must give it a go this weekend.
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
I ended up getting one the other night.
2 hours
This is a shot of my first Berliner Weisse attempt. Coming along nicely so far, cant wait for it to be fully complete.
And here is my newest glass. One of three I acquired today. I will post the whole lot tomorrow when my trade box arrives

So much win in this thread! Love the Festina Peche. Drink all night and not get wasted, a God send! Brewed 10 gallons of a summit, bravo, centennial, amarillo, citra IPA tonight, whilst quaffing Festina.
There's a good chance you've handled my ass-pennies. That gives me the edge.
Hell yeah Wadds!
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
Wadds- whatd that case run ya? Trying to secure one down here. Already got the "to tell ya the truth DFH is real sparse...we prob will only get one case and sell them as singles"...I don't know I'd the guy knew what I was talkin about tho

Good summer beers for a girl that doesn't enjoy anything "bitter"...go! (no Festina here yet btw).
I was thinking: UFO Raspberry, Bell's Oberon, or Anderson Valley Summer Solstice (I had their winter release and it was delicious). My girlfriend's 21st is on Wednesday and I was thinking about adding some craft brews to her present. Any ideas are appreciated.
This was incredible. Dry, tart, full of funky fruit. Wish it were more apricot-forward. Otherwise, I killed the bottle myself, and didnt share!!
Also finished my first year of trading with a bang. Cantillon Fou'Foune and Cantillon Lou Pepe Kriek '08 are the big guns I have been wanting for a while now. Also got a Three Floyds tulip and some weird spaceship glass. The rest are extras.

You would think that "given the grain and hop bill", the Festina wouldn't cost too much. . . but sour always means $$$! Ugh.

Last night was a bit epic.
2009 The Lost Abbey Cable Car
Bottle Price: $115
The pour in that glass: $17
Very disappointed. Slightly medicinal, like a cough syrup. Overly sweet. No traditional RIS characteristics. Overall unenjoyable
We drink a lot of Russian River around here
Loved this the first time I had it (thanks Anthony), but this bottle was really malty and a bit astringent.
