Just had a 'More Cowbell' at Russian River, new experimental IPA with some thing called hop340, it was really flavorful.

Last week had some Dogfish Head 75-minute IPA (awesome), Sahtea and Rogue Voodoo Doughnut (tastes like waffles smothered in syrup, interesting). Last night got to try some Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous...holy frack...so good!

Do you mean HBC 342? Its a newly developed variety that has yet to be named. Its from Hop Breeding Company (HBC), the same folks that brought everyone Citra, Simcoe, and Palisade, amongst others.

Alpine did a single hop with HBC 342. They called it Melonhead because they swore it tasted like watermelon. They were wrong.

I went to Rattle n Hum for Brewery Night, which was a Rogue Ales tap take over. I drank Southampton's new Burton IPA all night. Frack Rogue.

Drinking Avery Maharja IIPA right now. Fracking delicious. Hercules has been one of my favorites for a while, but I think this is a bit smoother and still heavy on hops, so good. Also, Free The Hops has successfully vanquished the 16oz container law in Alabama, so we will be getting 22oz soon! As of now there's only one or two places you can get beers like Maharja that carry it on tap and will put it in a small milk jug, but that means you have to drink it that day otherwise it goes to shit. Pretty stoked, hope Lagunitas starts distributing since they seem to have some of the cheapest, but still really damn good beers.

Dont pass again (if youre a hophead...). You wont find it on the shelves often (its a 4pack btw- I paid 14.50 for it...so not cheap). I wish I could find more here. If you like DIPA/IIPAs with lots of hops (this DIPA is 10.4per and 100+ IBU), go buy it. Great hop kick with sweet caramel malts to back up the hops. Leaves your mouth coated with a bittering aftertaste. Its very "fresh" tasting and surprisingly drinkable. I could have followed it with another, but was at the bar for a work social deal and needed to survive.

If you like SN pale ale, torpedo, celebration, any of the hemispheres...you will love this. Some people throw Sierra Nevada to the side now and forget about it since its gained in popularity and its readily available. Heck I see pale ale at shitty kwik stops. I dont care how available it is- SN makes top notch beers and I buy a 6er regularly. SN are great to have if you have friends over who want a nicer beer, but who you dont want to share your $10 bomber with.

EDIT! Went down the the store I usually dont frequent, frankly because I was tired of sitting around the house. They had one four pack and one four pack-1 beer left (they will part out most 4/6 packs).

Rays game and Hoptimum. Also snagged this sweet piece of limited edition Duvel glassware (albeit not cheat at $8.75). The thing is freakin heavy!

Figured I would put this in a second post...http://www.dogfish.com/company/tange...mel-animal.htm

a bar I frequent (Gainesville House of Beers (also located in Palm Harbor and Dunedin, FL)) got a DFH Randall. Not sure how many of you are familiar with it, but it basically screws into a tap and allows you to add fresh ingredients. The bar has been experimenting with it lately (I havent tried anything yet) on Thursday nights, but so far they made:

-Double oaked coffee chocolate yeti. They took Great Divide Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti and added coffee and oak chips
-Sierra Nevada Torpedo infused with fresh, whole cone simcoe hops

I got to experience a randall at a beer fest in st. Pete 2 years ago. Very, very cool! They were experimenting with adding fresh herbs to some IPA's. Delicious! Tasted similar to the DFH Saison de Buff that is on the shelfs now that is brewed with rosemary and thyme...

Cuvee Rene is supposed to be a very noteworthy Gueze, despite that fact that its produced by Lindemans. Let me know how this years Black and Blue is, I've been on the fence about buying a bottle.

Speaking of Randals, Dan Cady shared a brilliant idea with me a few weeks ago; loading a French Press with your intended beer enhancer, add a local beer, press, and enjoy. Earlier today I ordered 54 Premium Bourbon grade Madagascar Vanilla beans to French press into some stouts and porters; maybe Ill get ambitious and run some of the Pumpkin ales that I have aging as well.

I have a friend who's wife is stationed in Germany and is coming home in the next few weeks. I'm trying to convince him to have her run over to Belgium and pick up a case of Trappist Westvleteren 12!
