I actually had it today. Can I say this is my favorite DFH or that I fell in love like I did with festina Peche? No...It's nothing amazing.

However, I did enjoy it. I actually was getting distracted and taking sneaking sips between MW3 rounds. It was very refreshing, crisp, and a clean finish. I didn't get a lot of the saison funk flavor...if ya didn't tell me it was a saison I may not have known. It has spicy taste- lemon, pepper, and the herbs- sage and parsley stand out the most for me. It was different and something I would say to try, just because it's unique. It's also not a large $7-9 bomber and just 12oz for around $2.50-$3.00. If ya hate it, it's an easy drain pour.

Anthony- If ya want it that bad I can ship a bottle. I'll see if I can try it first sometime soon before I ship something not worthy.

Im on a beer drinkin craze this weekend.

Had the Rays baseball game and Masters Sunday on...a relaxing Easter called for a good beer. Knew I wanted to go IPA as I wanted something refreshing. It was a) DFH 120 Min, b) DFH 75 min, c) Bells Hopslam, d) SN Celebration, e) Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, or f) DFH 75 Min...I surely had options.

I decided on the 75 minute. Another great beer. I didnt know it before I opened it, but damn this beer has some carbonation. I wouldnt say I am an aggressive pourer, but this beer sure made it look like I was! I ended up at least 3 fingers of head. Thick, bubbly, inviting head. Second pour- pour slow as helllllll and once again, over two fingers of head! I actually got 3 pours out of the bomber, which is rare for me when pouring into a pint glass (which brings up a point- I spend all this money on beer, and I havent expanded my glassware beyond pint glasses).

Better than the 60min, on par with the 90 minute. Smell is great. The maple syrup is a nice touch. The combination of the carbonation, maple syrup, and hop kick really does it for me. And only $6.99 a bottle at my shop!

Im tempted to follow this with the 120 min...

I actually bought some good beer today.

And picked this one up because it's from a new(ish?) local brewery right here in Virginia Beach. Double IPA, just under 9%, supposed to be hoppy, citrusy, grapefruits, other stuff.

I got stuck in bum frack South Carolina this past weekend and while I was wondernig around downwtown Aiken I found a cool little brewpub, called Aiken Brewing Company. Even though I didn't get to try a lot of their beers I did try a lot of their English IPA. It fit the style very well went down smooth while I watched the Masters.

Just got back from my Honeymoon which consisted of a cruise down to Cozumel and then once back in the states, a road trip down through the keys. The trip was great, but the beer selection was not :-( Wasted away in bud light lime ville...

This weekend's beer selection will make up for it though...

Hoptimum is amazing! I hope you can get some man, well worth it.

I haven't posted here in a while but I've had some dope beers lately worth sharing..these are fairly common on the west coast right now, I just never got around to actually trying them but stoked I did.

Old Rasputin imperial stout and Rogue bacon maple ale. The bacon maple is unique, strong upfront maple aroma with a heavy bacon taste leaving you craving bacon! I was weary of it at first but it's smooth and surprisingly light and carbonated, not overly malty and syrupy like I had imagined, perfect breakfast beer.
    north coast.jpg

    rogue voodoo.jpg

Some lighter brews from Left Coast. The Asylum is almost sessionable for a 11.8 abv tripel, fruity and slightly yeasty with well hidden alcohol. The Trestles IPA is bomb too, citrusy with Chinook and Centennial and clean tasting, not to mention sick label design.

    What a night...

The local brewery Swamphead had a lil meet and greet night prior to the Gainesville Hogtown Beer Festival. Tons of Florida breweries on tap.

    I tried:
1- Swamphead 10-10-10...touted as "fertilizer for the hop lovers soul"...it was a great beer. I had it on tap a couple years back right when I was getting into craft beers. This is still a good one...Disappointed I missed the 10-10-100 and the barrel aged 10-10-10
2- Swamphead Scieanhops Imperial Red- another good beer- 11 malts and 12 hop additions.
3- Cigar City Cucumber Saison. One of the CCB brewers I talked with had me try it. A treatment of their Table Saison...wow. This beer was awesome. I can see myself downing several of these in some 90*+ Florida weather. Very, Very refreshing and only 4.5% abv. The nose- cucumber. the taste- cucumber and dill. I will say- more than one or two, and it would get old quick. It got old by the time I finished my cup. Nonetheless, I liked it.
4- Swamphead Catherines Inspiration- a RIS by Swamphead. A bit sweet, but a good RIS. I enjoyed this one too, but at 10% it was hard to finish as my last beer.

Also tried CCB Vanilla Maduro...I have tried several treatments of the Madura brown ale...This one was a hit. Also St. Somewhere Rose Saison. A brewery that almost brews saisons exclusively. I sought some of the beers after Rob and Rick Sawyer raved about them and tried their Saison Athene in the bottle...it was great. Their Rose was on par too.

This week- got some Hoptimum, more 75 min, and Hennepin....I need to get a beer fridge...my main fridge is overflowing with bombers.

Drove 522 miles (round trip) up to Ithaca's Le Bleu release today. It was a blast. My friend and I left LI at 2am and arrived at 6:30am; we were the second car in the parking lot and #3/4 on line. By 10 there were well over 150 people in line, and only the first 110 people got cases.

Nah. That is the one and only cavedave on BA. Him and his buddies had a mean bottle share going on. I was talking Brad Moyer (the guy who wrote Troeg's Scratch #58 Triple Mango IPA recipe) all morning, hilarious guy. I'm slowly learning that these crazy releases are a fracking blast. Waiting on line and talking beer all morning with those dudes was awesome.

A lot more enjoyable than the SH release? Come out here mate, the weather + amount of guys with crazy cellars = incredible releases. I'm about to start going just to stand in line and get free beer from the people sharing, eff the actual bottles being released.

Yeah. I definitely enjoyed it 10x more than the SH Release. It was 31 degrees when we first got there, by 8:30 the sun was out and it ended up being 66 by the time we packed up the car to go home. Between paying for Graduate school, saving up for an apartment, and managing my weekly beer spending as is, I could not afford to take a week off from work to beer adventure in SD.

Drank a SN hoptimum early today. Enjoyed it. Right up my alley.

Then decided it was a good night to crack my 120 min (drinking now). I want to say this beer is good, maybe the reputation and price I paid has me reeled it...but its not for me. Not what I was expecting for am IIPA at all. I imagined 90 min on steroids, but I got a very sweet, malty, caramel mess with barely any hop bite coming across for me...And at 18per or so, this stuff has some heat...thick on the tongue nearing syrup consistency. I guess it was fun to have once and I think it will get a little better as the glass gets drank. Maybe it will age well, but I did not like too much.

120min is WAY better with at least 2 years on it. Fresh, it is agreeably too malty, too hot. But age does that beer well. Unfortunately, although they hop it as much as they do, the incredible ABV overwhelms the entire beer. Don't give up on it, open one in a couple years and it will be a much better beer.

Has anyone been to Seattle lately? I'm going next week for the first time and I'm not too familiar with the Washington beer scene. Can anyone recommend any breweries/beer shops/bars in the downtown area that they've been to or heard of worth checking out? Or local brews to watch for?

    Damn...nice!

How is aprihop? I've had my eye on it for some time. One day I will get to try nugget nectar and some green flash brews...

Finally scored a beer mini fridge. $50 practically new. Not a countertop size, and not a small desktop, but perfect mid size for my collection. Only problem is now finding a good setting, which is likely hard with the built in freezer part and small volume. On a scale of 7 coldest, I had it on 4 and my hopslam is ice cold! Not good...having to let it sit for 20 minutes before even drinking. Going to have to drop this thing to like 2.

Aprihop was actually pretty good. I'd compare it to a sweeter version of 60 minute.

Just out of curiosity, how much beer do you drink on a daily basis, everyone?
How much do you spend on craft & local beers on a weekly/monthly basis?
Since I really got into craft beer a couple years ago, I spend a lot more money on beer (depending on season and releases) and look forward almost everyday to trying a new one or pouring a favorite (usually a bomber or 2-3 12oz's per day). Just curious if this is typical and what everyone else's daily drinking amount or budget is...care to share?

No idea on my budget, but I usually only spend on special releases and trades. Otherwise my money is spent on stuff on-tap. I also homebrew. SO during the week if I feel so inclined I will have a 12oz homebrew, but I don't usually have more than a single beer a day, if I decide to have a beer at all. Then I save my special stuff for the weekends or occasions.

I spend way to much money on beer, especially since I got sucked into the rare/special release scene. I'm not sure if its a hobby or an addiction.

I usually drink 3 nights a week (on my nights off from work). Typically I have a bomber or a 750ml over the course of an hour or two. I just began writing up reviews for the special stuff that I have been drinking from my "cellar," and that usually takes me 30 minutes or so.

I've been doing the craft beer thing for a little over two years now, though my whaling days will soon be over once I start my graduate program. When I do, I'm going to take a video of me drain pouring the remaining bottles of Le Bleu down the drain while reciting verbal taunts to Dan.
