Have you had the Red&White before? I saw that when I was home and almost picked it up, but I passed.
watch the moving bodies as they react to the sound
No I haven't but I've enjoyed the black and blue, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I have been super busy for a few months as I transition to a managing ownership role in the marketing and design firm my old man started and havent been here - but as I sit at home (nice to not be traveling) and am on my way to finishing off a great beer, I decided to share again. I generally loathe all beers offered by our "large" craft brewer here, Saint Arnolds.... BUT they have done a great job of knocking off Pliny the Elder with their now year round offering of Endevour. The beer was initially released in the Devine Reserve series last year and is now being sold in 22oz bombers.
The hops are amazing and the malt stays the f*ck out of the way. Tons of Simcoe, Cascade, and well - pretty much all the great C hops.
While on the beer front - I purchased a 5 gallon used whiskey barrel from a small distillery in Washington and have now aged an amazing Imperial Stout and a great Baltic Porter in it... The whiskey flavors are fading, but the oak is still strong. I may inoculate with Pedio and Brett and make it my souring vessel soon.
Cheers-
Rob
holy shit...Sawyer brother sighting! Man you and Rick have been been off the map. The beer thread has held strong due to the help from some regulars.
Cant wait to get back home and have a good beer. Been out of town for 4 days...get back for one day and go out of town again for another 6 days.
ThatGuy- youll enjoy that Saison Dupont.

Welcome back, Rob. I highly advise you to take the time to plow through the pages that you missed while you were on your hiatus; serious goods have been consumed by all.
In other news, I've decided not to hold off on the CC/Bruery Dos Costas; I'm going to have that later this afternoon. Its way too nice out to drink anything but a refreshing Saison (alas, if only I had a nice berliner weisse); furthermore, if I want to get an idea of what the others will be like I better do it fast before the other two variants sell out around here. Beachbum, and all those who were interested in this, a review will be posted later on. Cheers fellas.

My most recent adventures. I throughly enjoyed all of these except the Kriek Boon, which I think is synonymous for cherry flavored water.
Thatguy - I hope you like KBS as much as I did.

God damn Saison Dupont is fracking delicious!

I loved that shit^^^...and the price was right for me too.
I finally got my hands on two things today-1) My Antonia...almost bought several bottles but thought I better try it first 2) 120 minute. I'm afraid to say what I paid for each. Anyone care to share what they paid?
Also found more hopslam at two different shops but I still have 7 bottles so I did not buy. I did buy a bomber of shipyard smashed blueberry though... drinking now- Very interesting and enjoyable beer...I've had lieny and sea dog blueberry beers, but this dark blueberry beer kills those.

Wadds did you happen to see that 120min clone experiment on HBT.com?

Around me, bottles of 120 retail for 9.99-10.99. I picked up two about a month ago. I think I may try to get a 120 vertical going.
"I will see you either in hell or communism."
Okay cool I guess I'm not insane. I paid 9.99 for each (the my Antonia and the 120)
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2010
I'm pretty sure I've seen that one. I believe The Mad Fermentationist did one also. I should have a decent hop harvest this year and so I think I'll wait till then to do this to help defray some of the cost by using home grown hops. Probably use extract for bittering as well.
My wife and I are expecting our first child any day now, so I haven't been brewing as much lately. But I was able to square a few hours away for myself this weekend to brew up this 10 gal. batch of 1.090 DIPA full of Amarillo/Simcoe/Citra goodness. Its a tweaked version of a previous batch that I entered into a large competition and scored a 35.5 with. That 35.5 would've probably been closer to the 39 that won the category if not for the serious undercarb problems I suffered (I only bottled a sixer from that batch and measuring priming sugar on a per-bottle basis by volume is a PITA and extremely unreliable). Half this batch is going to be bottled, half kegged, and it will be submitted into two upcoming competitions.

There's a good chance you've handled my ass-pennies. That gives me the edge.
Now that is a sexy kettle. When in the deuce did you source Simcoe? All the online stores are out(
And I would love to try some of those when you bottle them. Those are my three favorite hops right now. Im bottling a few more batches this week so I will have a few goodies to send your way in exchange.

My LHBS has 'em, and doesn't seem to be running out any time soon. Every time I go in there, no matter what I'm there for (tubing, grains, gypsum, etc), I always grab two ounces or more of Simcoe - just to be safe. When I said something to one of the guys working there about their seemingly never-ending supply, he made a comment along the lines of "Its good to have contracts". Whatever that means. This weekend was my first time using Citra and the aroma is insane. I'm psyched to see what impact it has on this recipe. I planned on having this one ready by late May. I'll be down for a trade.

In the fridge currently-
and on the table currently-
My Antonia...wow. This is very enjoyable. Its like an IPA with a twist for me. Very drinkable, clean, crisp, refreshing, and nicely balanced. Nice malt backbone with that hop profile hitting ya solid. As it warms I get a lot more of the malt flavor. At 9.99 a bottle, this is a steal for me. Ive been looking for it for a while and only found it at one place I was introduced to this week (also where I acquired 120 min). I think I need to go back!

not the greatest beer i've had but a good drink nonetheless .

i'm ed.
Just a few things to say: 1) Blueberries make everything better; 2) Bramble Rye was the best Barrel Aged Stout that I have ever had; 3) beware of Dos Costas Grapefruit Variant, for the bottles are over carbonated and will explode all over your kitchen.

Nice looking stash!
If you're in the mood, click this beer menu and tell me what to drink tonight...some may be foriegn to you since its local or small breweries. http://www.gainesvillehob.com/?page_id=9
i have like 8 beer on my mind, but tell me if i have to absolutely try one if they have it (the bottle list is from last week and its Stone heavy, i believe due to a stone brewery night they did, so they may not have all the stone brews)...you only have like 2-4 hours so not much time...conveniently the link leads to BA reviews.
Looking good so far for me:...I have never had any of the below beers
-Oskar blues g'knight
-Kulmbacher Eisbock...never heard of the beer or the style
-rodenbach grand cru
-rogue choco stout
-DFH aprihop...may have actually had this but can't remember and it sounds interesting
-stone Cali-Belgique
-stone Oaked arrogant bastard
-Gulden draak
I can prob only do 3-4 tonight. Keep in mind I haven't tried any of the above beers.
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2010
Ida gone with Left Hand Milk Stout, Lagunitas Cap. Stout, Rodenbach Grand Cru, Ruination.
In that order
W4a|e Hunter
Haha all Fair choices...all of those sans grand cru I've had fairly recently...but they are all also top beers for me.
I ended up having stone Cali-Belgique (loved it)...rodenbach grand cru (got damn this was amazing. My store carries it and their vintage Oaked aged. Plans to buy soon)...gulden draak ( the was good but a bit sweet for me, but this could be due to it follwoing the grand cru...I don't know if i like the style. The dark fruits like raisins and plums was yummy tho)...ended the nite with what I was told was a rare Italian beer (Birra del borgo re ale extra) that is an ipa made using American hops...'twas great as well
Just scored:
-DFH 75 minute...first time I've seen it. Very excited
-DFH saison du buff...I bought this out of the interest of it-- brewed by stone, DFH, and victory and they rotate who brews it each year...this is DFHs version. The store clerk said this is his favorite DFH beer in some time which was surprising. It's a saison with parsley, rosemary, thyme, and sage...sounds yuck haha but I'm excited for it
-coronado idiot imperial ipa- never had any Coronado beers so gave it a try...
- schneider weisse- for the lady...supposed to be a good beer of the style
-tropical heat wave- for the lady also for easter...a wheat ale by cigar city with tropical additions. I had never heard of it or seen it but I'm hoping my girl shares!
There was so much more I wanted to buy too...they still had 6 packs of hopslam...they had several bottles of 120min...and I asked about sours and saisons...I saw rodenbach grand cru, rodenbach vintage oak aged, cascade kriek ale, and ommegang Hennepin...he says the cascade is a must try if I want to get into sours...but it's also $17 lol...must be good
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA 2010
I want to try Tropical Heat Wave so bad. I cannot find it anywhere!
