for now... but your xbox will slowly deteriorate. I got the rings awhile ago and have gotten them a couple times since. My xbox now freezes on alot of games and always has this green screen when it starts up. Bout time to send her in I think

    yeah my brother did that
me and my other brother in law were playing (3 diff houses) and he calls and is like yo my Lbol (don't ask) crashed imma try this fix. He told me what it was and I'm like no fracking way, that's retarded. Sure enough a little while later he signs on and it's been running ever since (that was like a year ago). Something about how the heat issues cause the motherboard to warp and 2 elements to touch and short, when you wrap it in a towel and turn it on its side (I think that's how you do it), it re-warps (de-warps) the motherboard and fixes the short

guess you weren't paying attention, you don't have to open the xbox. There's really no way they could prove you did the towel trick. They could speculate, based on possible heat damage to other components caused by overheating it w/ towels, but they can't prove it didn't overhead liek that naturally..

So I was a little off, I'd been told it was a motherboard warping problem causing a short, but it looks like it's a motherboard warping problem that causes bad connections b/w the GPU and the board. I'm guessing it's like a cold solder problem, in which case getting the solder hot enough to liquify again would help, but it's only a temporary fix. The motherboard's still warped.

I need to get a gaming system.

A TV for that matter. My parents tried to buy me a TV for my B-Day coming up but I rather put that money somewhere else.

I would not mind a TV.

But seriously paying for Cable kills me. Average package in this small town (New Kent, VA) is like 70 bucks a month.

I only need Cable/Satellite a few months out of the years. (College basketball and football season)

But Movies, TV and News I watch soley on the computer. MSNBC.com has an amazing media player where the content is on there in 5 mins, live content and easy to use.

I rather put that money into a large LCD with a new desktop or a skimboard.

Or even a new camera. And I am about to get a new LT for the business...so I might be doing well in the tech field.

    i Win.

brought it back to microcenter, theyre giving me a 400$ gift card i believe...but i have to wait.

    kept HDD
gonna get an Arcade (dont need a 60GB HDD), since the arcade is pretty much the same except w/o HDD. Arcade has HDMI.

Best of all i paid 200$ for the premium two years ago (100$ Mail in rebate, 100$ new credit card)..... but yet theyre crediting me back 400$.

dunno what to buy with the other 200$, ofc insurance....
