    Default ghosts

Who here believes in ghosts and could you somehow explain to me why you believe in them and any evidence that can be shown of their existance?

The reason I ask is that a few of my friends 'claim' to have recent experiences with ghosts yet I find the stories highly unbelievable and just figments of their imaginations. Even one person who was accompanying them when they had one of these 'sightings' said that it was unlikely to of been a ghosts. Yet the remainder of my friends are convinced.

I'm just looking for one good reason why I should believe in their story / ghosts even an epsilon.

i'd say it depends on how big your imagination is. but on the other hand you never know.

i have to look, but i've got a picture of a friend of mine and the moment the picture was taken nothing was wrong, but if you look at the pisture there's someone behind her, that wasn't originally there.

there's a small chance i have it on my pc , cause my harddrive recently creashed, but i'm sure the friend of me that took the picture still has it.

I believe in ghost because my Mom and I and my Dad and I have been walking our dog on calm nights and occasionly our swing out front just starts rocking back and forth like someone's on it but it will suddenly just completely stop. It's really wierd and I have seen it about three times in the past two years. When it happens I don't feel uncomfortable though.

heres the short explination, im sure somone else that has read up on it can elaborate.

scientist now think time moves in an orbital pattern like a figure eight, instead of time moving in a linear pattern. initial time originating at the source of the big bang, and then bending out and returning back to the point of origin.

some people think that during certain solar anomolies the two bands of "time" can bend together.

so my point is that when people think they see a ghost what they really are seeing is fragments or images of time from the paralell band of time.

    anyone else heard this theory?

There is not one bit of proof to support the idea that ghosts exist. End of story.

Ummm, the burden of proof is on people making the claim, not on the person who questions it.

weather or not it can be proven, I don't care. I still believe in them. I still remeber like it was yesterday the time I saw what I believe to be a ghost. I was three years old and it was Easter Morning. I lived in Vermont with my parents. The house we owned was a huge victorian style house that used to be a funeral home parlor. Where they used to "prepare" the bodies was a super long rectangular room, so naturally that room became our huge walk through pantry. But anyways, thats not important. What is imporant is that on Easter Sunday I woke up and ran down the wooden hallway into my parents room. My goal was to wake them up so that we could go downstairs and I could get my Easter Basket. I was told the night before not to get my basket without my parents. So I burst through my parents door which was shut, but not latched, just sort of barely closed. And when I came running into their room I clearly saw my mom's rain coat, which was sort of like a long trench coat flying across the room. Both of my parents were still asleep in bed. This scared me so bad that I ran as fast as I could and jumped into my parents and hid between the two of them with my face burried into the pillows. I'm sure I would have been under the covers if I could have figured out a way to get under them without wasting too much time. As a result of myself jumping into their bed my parents naturally woke up. They of course did not see the flying coat.

Everyone I tell this story too says, "Ah, you were just a little kid with a big imagination". Bullshit, I was a little kid, but that was no imagination. When I entered into that room my only thoughts were of chocolate bunnies and jelly beans. Once I entered that room i completely forgot all about those. I can still clearly see the image in my head of that coat floating across the room...

Well my friends are claiming these ghosts to be haunting them and things around them, i'm curious as to what everyone thinks of this?

I really do not see any evidence to prove or disprove the part of a ghost.

I think that people see something odd and then their imagination flows. My friends claim they saw the same thing and such, all 3 or 4 of them. You know how when a person laughs at his own joke therefore everyone else laughs with him... I think that is what is happening here. Plus these friends of mine are known to exagerate, it's just flustering me why they are so fervently following this most likely false belief.

Oh well, it's like religion, we'll never know.

I don't think it "scared" me, but I still can see that image in my head as I write this, and I'm 26 years old. That was 23 frackin years ago and I can still clearly see it like it was yesterday...

yeah, the dianetics in school thing was a joke, alluding to the prevelance of scientology in that town, so i guess we were both joking, huzzah

on the subject of ghosts, i believe that the majority of "ghost sightings" tend to be optical illusions, people believe what they see, and many people dont realize that our brains are basically just very complex computers and our eyes are very advanced cameras, and sometimes they get glitches, our senses are not infallible

but obviously a coat floating around a room is not a minor sensory glitch, which is why i say majority, there are instances out there that have yet to be explained, although i dont think that lack of an explanation is proof of the supernatural

yea that makes sense. but there are some weird things that happen, that multiple people have experienced without having prior knowledge which creeps me out.

i dont know though man, i just keep an open mind on the subject.

if your asking this question you have to ask is the mind seperate from the body, because thats the only way you could have ghosts. Personally i belive the mind is seperate from the body and that there is such things as ghosts. There is no "scientific" proof that they exist, but ive read some major works of philosophy that can be used to prove they exist through other means.
