    Default Lost a few lbs

My board is starting to feel like a canoe ! Since I bought my board I've lost around 16-17lbs. I'm thinking of dropping down to a Medium Hybrid and I currently have an Exile trdtnl Large. I'll be using in the Gulf coast 85% of the time and I'm trying to keep it Exile.

    Sound like a good choice?

Are you okay>? Losing that much weight can't be healthy, unless you were overweight to begin with. If thats the case, then Congrats.

I'v always been told that, it doesn't pay to skim with a bpard that doesn't fit. Too big a board, and it gets impossible to manuever in the water. Too small and you'll sink.

I would get the board that Fits you right NOW. Do you plan on keeping losing heaps of weight or what? Just stay WITHIN the weight ranges and get the board you like.

It won't be fun trying to ride a huge board.

Just think about it exxagerated, like tryin to ride a longboard like a short fun board and cutting back and forth up the face of the wave rapidly. not gonna happen.

That being said, when the traditonal did fit you, how did it treat you? I also live on the gulf coast, and am goign between a hybird and traitional. Do you have good manueverability, with it having hardly any rocker in the rear?

How the hell did you lose that much weight? Thats the reason I'm going Exile, because I weigh 200 lbs, and I want a relatively small board. Btw...if you do get that board, what are you going to do with your old one? Sell it perhaps?

There is no need to go from large to medium

I wasn't trying to lose wait at all. I just stopped eating a lot of fast food and try to eat healthy. I guess you can call it a change in diet.

I'm thinking of just keeping the large for my girlfriend to learn on. She's been praticing with it when we go out together.

As far as manueverability, it doesn't seem as responsive as before. I don't know if its because i don't have as much weight to put into it.

I was checking Exile's weight chart and it (Med/Hybrid) seems like the ideal choice.

Yea... but you can still overdo it.

    More thickness might be better.

It is better to have a board that is bigger than a smaller one. Just keep jusing the large and if you maintain weight and eventually go down to a smaller one, you will be able to kill it that much more.

I just noticed that skimcity's weight recommendations for exile boards is different from exile directly. Of course I will use exiles weight chart, but just curious.

    example:
    Med at skimcity: 120-140lbs
    Med exile's chart: 145-190

Pretty big difference if you aske me.

gulfster, IMO you should keep the larger board. on the gulf, having that little bit of extra float will help you. If it REEEAALLY starts to be unbearable, then get a new board, and you'll really rip b/c you have the practice on a canoe....like icej said.

Congrats on the weight loss though...since you started eating healthier i'm going to assume that it was mostly fat. Another option would be to keep your board and pack on some lean muscle. That way you weigh the same as you did, but you've got extra strength and speed to really throw some water around.

Theres not much more to say than what has already been said but...

How tall are you? Im 6' 1" and ride a LRG Traddy Exile myself. I weigh about 175 although I fluctuate quite a bit. If youre tall then I would stick with the LRG board. I feel as if height plays a major role in a board size. If youre pretty tall, your legs will be able to control the board rather well. And since you skim the gulf, a bigger board is always a plus. However, you are familiar with a LRG and if you feel its too big then you might want to downgrade in size. Just go out, or meet with someone with a M exile and give it a shot.

Obviously you are lying, because according to Victoriascrub, everyone in Jersey rides a Zap. Wish you weren't a lier...

I'm 5'10". I love the float of it, but it seems a bit harder to control than it used to be.
