Default No skim... then fish. *********Shark Pics*********

Well, its my job, but still fun when this kinda stuff happens...

    and this...

    fish 005ee_resize.jpg10fxtlt_resize.jpg

Edit: Here's the shark I was talking about that I caught during the tournament. Like I said, it wasn't huge, but still big, the pics dont really get the girth too well, but it was a thick mudda. We only get small ones about 2 -3 ft bulls, so this one was kinda suprising. It fought like a 50 - 60 lb tuna too, so it was still fun...

Yea, tourists always come on the boat asking us if we have wasabi. It gets annoying eventually, about every charter we catch tuna, someone asks. We also take the fish to a restaurant for them that night though, so its still good... Besides, I had to worry about catching the other 2 that we got, not about slicing up a tuna, and plus, someone (me) is gonna have to clean up all that extra blood later on so...

Theres no need for wasabi, just eat the tuna. I got a marlin a couple years ago about that size. Thing is up here in Jersey we have to go out 80-100 miles to get to the canyon. Takes a while to get out there.

We were fishing in a tournament here on Sat. and Sun. and were in a school of tuna... Then this retarded ass bull shark either bites the tuna plug, or eats the tuna that was on the plug, and he got himself hooked. Only thing is, he was hooked right in the corner of the mouth, not gut hooked so he must have hit the plug...

Anywayz, I thought it was about a 50lb yellow fin, come to find out it was a 8 ft bull shark. I was pissed cuz it didnt count for the tournament, but it was still a good fight. We released it after we got a few pics of it in the water, their on film though, so when they get developed I'll post em...

I've been fishing Lemon Bay in the Englewood/Venice area and fishing is really good right now. We've been catching snook, reds and trout everywhere in the bay and we have been doing some tarpon fishing off the beaches. The tarpon are big off the beaches right now. We also went shark fishing off stump pass beach a little over a week ago and ended up with a 6 foot blacktip. The shark beach fishing is going to start turning on real soon.

First one's a yellow fin tuna. I hope your not fishing the gulf and keeping those snook right now. I'm sure your not but just giving you a heads up, they're closed right now and 24" snook is illegal. They have to be between 26" and 34" so make sure you know next time you go out. Our biggest snook last weekend was 32" but most were 28 to 30 inches. The biggest red was 29" and the smallest was 18".

Yea, its a yellowfin tuna, before I resized the pics smaller you could have seen the colors a lot better, right now its harder to see from the shadow. Fishing has been slow this weekend, and so far today though, hardly any schools of tuna or dolphin around...

Right now I only work on weekends anyway, but hopefully fishing will get better by then...

no were not gonna keep it...were throwing it back.... LOL....24/ 26, its all the same. its not like im depleting the snook

you just dont understand my spot, its so stocked with SNOOK, i get a bite 1/2 times i real out, i either a)lose them b) throwem back

i acually thing the lake/pond/ thing is overstocked w/ snook, only natural enemy is gators, but snook r faster (only time a gator gets a snook, is off our fishing line when were reeling IN)

and fyi, i think 19" red is also illegal? (or did they not change from 18" lower to 22"in lower)

that first snook looks too small..better be careful keeping illegal snook, theyll throw you in jail or give you a huge fine..

I"m assuming you're in FLorida, and by your posts it doesn't sound like you're fishing from a boat. If thats the case, you don't need a saltwater license. That was something I was confused about in the past considering they sell snook stamps. I called the state and found out you only need a snook stamp if you're fishing from a boat or you are wade fishing. If you are fishing from a dock, sea wall, beach, etc... No tag required. Now you mentioned "lake" and "gators". So if you're fishing freshwater you would still need a freshwater license, but still no snook stamp...

You need a freshwater license if its a lake. Pretty sure its at the discretion of the officer to determine.

Im pretty sure you have to have a snook stamp to keep a snook regardless of fresh or salt water, or license requirements.
