how would you say that if they wear in the same spot, it isnt like it would wear on a spot where you never touch the board, gdc.

You of all people shouldn't be pulling that GDC stuff, mainly because you suck so much more than me. Also its more about how quickly clear tape wears in comparison, and how much worse it looks and feels too.

It looks good on arbors, you of all people shouldnt be saying that either, your rep is worse than mine. Also, I wrote GDC cause you made a dumb ass comment, even I know that it wont wear at the same rate, but it WILL wear in the same spot.

Clear grip does tend to wear a bit faster, and in the spots you need grip you don't want that. If you look at the arbor team they don't usually ride clear grip.

if you want clear grip, i think some polyurethane and crushed glass is best. obviously use poly that won't dry yellow.

    Hey guys,

So I was given a board by a friend for Xmas. I now have a Landyachtz Battleaxe with Grizzly 8/52 Trucks and it came with 76mm Zombie Hawgs but we switched them to 70mm Mini-Monster Hawg wheels because he wanted the others on his set up. He also has Abec 11s No skoolz 86a that he hates but I like that I can switch to for smooth pavement.

The kind of riding I want to do is freestyle techy shit (which isn't bad with the extended nose and tail on the Battleaxe and lightweight of the bamboo), cruising around town, and general sliding with some Florida "hill" action. This is my first deck so I am mad stokeddd! It seems to be a good intro for all of the above and is much easier to cross step on than the 9two5 I had been riding. (I still love that board too)

Any recommendations to tweek my current set up? I have been reading this thread for a while so I have some ideas.

Also, I need to get rid of the clear grip, it looks fracking awful. I'm probably going to youtube it but are all brands of grip tape for the most part the same? I can probably silverfish that question. But yeah, clear grip for the epic lose.

I got a landyachtz switch for xmas, rides great, I hooked it up with paris trucks and 86a bigzigs (I know bigzigs) somehow there is a pop/crack sound coming from my trucks when I do a backside turn and a backside turn only, nothing on frontside turns, any one have this problem?

It's the washers, they slide back and forth a bit on the kingpin when the bushings push on them when you turn. it's either that or the bushings. the way to fix the washers is to wrap some electrical tape around the kingpin where the washers go.

    My new grip job.

Removed old grip, painted black, spray mounted, clear gripped. It's super grippy but I can tell it'll wear fast but I'm not too worried considering this board is only a campus cruiser/mild tech (nose manuals, tiger claws)

I love it, it's the Comet FSMini and it's 36" so it's not too long, not too small. It's tails are perfect size and it's everything I could have wanted out of a board.

As for the art, it's just printed out, I can't take credit for doing the detail haha. It's just spray mounted on there.

I ate through my jeans super bad last night trying and then doing slides. Trying to manual at speed both nose and tail resulted in epic falls a few times, too. These jeans are perma fracked and I feel like I got thrown down stairs. =D

I skated like that for a few hours hahahah

dat ass? at leas tall your skin is still there. one of my friends fell while going fast and ripped plenty more than his pants.

also, as soon as my vacuum bag gets here, i'm making this. It's already been prototyped and whatnot and with a few mods from the original design, I think this will work out just fine for me. And for once, frack round edges, this is gonna be just like that. I always liked sharp edges. now i need a corresponding ornate nose guard.

it's a topmount, the trucks just show through so i can see where they are. probably 5 layers, maybe 4 of BB. thinking red and black stain job.

No, its a girl thong. I'm happy I didn't get epic ass road rash thats for sure. Just elbows and knees but I wear gloves and shit.

When I fall, its usually into a roll on the side I skate with (regular). So road rash tends to be shoulders, elbows and knees for that side with hip bruising. Theres not many places for me to go fast here but I'm working on improving basics anyway. I'm totally a newb still. Only a few months of skating.

That plan looks interesting for sure.

Good. You'd be a weird dude. I don't longboard much but when I bomb hills or ish, I like longsleeve stuff, like I figure most of you do..

Every time I slide out i end up sliding until I can safely kick the board away and just cruise on my ass, never ripped jeans and exposed thong though, who took that picture lol?

Its too hot most of the time here for long sleeve. Even in the 50s I am dying to get that shit off of me. Buuut, I don't bomb hills often at all. I prefer sloped paved trails where I can practice manuals, coleman slides, and speed checks for my intro to sliding. I also like tech stuff a lot too so I like trying to do a kick flip at a good speed, etc.

I wish it was cold enough to wear hoodies in Florida. I already have to wait until night time to skate

My friend I was skating with took the picture. I actually nailed the slides after a few fails but the fails ripped my jeans....I continued skating which made the hole rip open A LOT more. We were pretty drunk at that point so I said "frack it take a picture". hehehe

Oh shit you're in florida, I flew into miami and it looked like the entire state was a giant parking lot, creeped me out. Not many hills there eh.

Nope, not at all. I've found "hills" (bare with me here...I'm from Florida I don't know what hills means) on Palm Beach Island, Delray and Boca off A1A.

South Florida is a giant parking lot, it fracking sucks. Thats why I am into tech right now besides it being cool as frack. But when I get super gangster with tech tricks I can learn to throw them out on the right hills when I move to the West coast. yeeaaaah

i usually won't skate in shorts but i usually always do short sleeves unless it's cold like it is now in which case i have layers. I think i might just cut some old ripped pants into cutoffs that go stay below my knee in falling situation for when it's hot. maybe not though.

sharp corners may look cool sometimes, but they chip/crack/get smashed so much more easily. just be aware that the first time that thing hits a curb/you set it down on the nose it will likely chip.

also, thong girl,...careful with the drunk skating. I know 2 people that no longer have a sense of smell because they fell at low speeds while they were drunk (not wearing a helmet).
nfarino117: Do you just use a paint pen on top of the front of your board? Or do you have to take it apart?
