Yeah so yesterday I was doing the best hill we have down here, probably a max of like 30mph so nothing crazy. At the end of my run I picked up my board and the back truck hanger just fell clean off, that would of sucked so bad at 20+mph.

i'm thinking about picking up a 30 in. gravity logan board, exact shape/size i was looking for. After shipping+handling, whether i buy it online or in the store, price would come out to be the same. Are there any brands of trucks/bearings i should stay away from?

Nice ride ... But I'm now thinking of getting a Dervish deck to replace my current deck... Only in doubt between a Flex1 and a Flex2 considering my weight, around 170-175lbs...

I have that exact deck set up w/ tracker 139mm rtx/s combo and 66mm abec11 strikers. Stay smaller w/ the trucks--smaller trackers 129-149mm would be perfect because wider trucks will hang out to far. The Logan earth ski has a skinnier nose. Bennett trucks would also be perfect--set up a reissued deck with some reissues trucks(bennetts) and throw some road rider red wheels on there and it would be retro. Do not choose randal 150s like most people will say, they will put you're deck too far off the ground. Bearings, just get reds if you're strapped for cash or get some bones swiss if you got more money. I'm rockin bones swiss ceramics right now(and I can't believe I'm saying this) but they really are worth the $--insanely fast. Good luck and have fun!

GET FLEX 1!!! I have bottomed out my flex 2 vanguard while pumping and i'm only 150-155. You'd be surprised how flexy their stiffest board is.

But!! a Flex2 Vanguard has a 37" wheelbase VS the 33.5" on the Dervish.

Paris trucks have a .5" inch smaller wheelbase compared to other trucks (when on the same deck)

Also a Dervish is slightly more resistant to torsion from what I could make up riding a vuanguard Flex 2... I liked the feel of the Vanguard and I couldn't bottom it out ...but it's too high for my likings so Dervish it is .

So well... I'm in doubt. fl1 or 2

hmm. ask on silverfish.com. They'll know for sure. Either way I'm sure you'll fall in love and marry your board.

those folks there give me mixxed opinions too...

One is like the Flex2 is way too flexxy for your weight while the other one says a Flex 2 is just right for someone that's 180-185...

Just a matter of opinion I guess..

But I guess i'm going for a Flex 2, since it's stiffer than a vanguard flex2 and that was nice so..

I weigh around 180-ish and I ride a flex 1. I wouldn't want anymore flex to the deck. I think it's just about perfect for my weight. I don't think flex 2 would be too much flex, but It's hard to tell how much flex you want if you haven't ridden one.

There is also a chart somewhere on the loaded site. I looked for it but I can't find it anymore. So you could check there.

It would probably benefit you to check out the board building section on silverfishlongboarding.com forums. Not spamming, but they could probably answer any board building question you might have.

@pffft: how do you like those randals on that comet? I'd be rockin' crails for downhill (at least on a topmount), but that's just my opinion.

I'm on Silverfish. I don't post much but that site has a shitload of great content. Everything I've ever needed to know about longboarding was on that website.
