    Question Bigspinz

Aright, so i finally got my 3 shuvs down solid, so now im trying bigspins flat.
Everytime i go to do the 180 body varial my body gets all of axis and ends up titing causing me to either land on the board and shoot out, or just miss the board.
So people who can do bigspins, got and trick to keep on axis, and and cleanly.
Seems like one of the harder tricks out there, soo yeah help would be dank.

    thanks

ps, flatlanders are are more than welcome to answer, you guys prob. know best

Really bend your knees cause if i dont i tend to land on the board standing like a pencil with my feet together. Bending your knees helps alot. Also you could try and catch the board like grab it which would keep you centered over the board and your knees would be bent. And if you cant grab it just drop your hand down to as level with the board as you can and should keep you level.

    A 3 shuv is a 360 shuvit, board rotates 360 degrees.

A big spin is a 360 shuvit with an 180 degree body varial in the same direction as the spin of the board.

    Ummmm....wow Nick.
But Gnar, not to sound like a douche, but i had the same problem and it was fixed by Nick's super sick skimming inside with a woodie. I just did em on a carpet and got my motion down, and i can almost land them consistently now. idk if that is help to you, but i had the same trouble and that is what helped me. Now i want a FS bigspin...

ok this is how i learned them and how i teach my friends to do them. when your sliding on water or sand and are about to do a big spin, start spinning like you would do a 360 sliding spin but only go about 30 or 45 degrees, this makes the body rotation alot easier. once you get the hang of the motion do it without the 30 or 45 degree rotation hope this helped

Pshhhh, don't listen to these cats. Don't start spinning before you do the spin,(unless you're doing them frontside, then it's a little more forgiving) it takes away from the difficulty. Yes it makes them a bit easier, but when i'm judging heats, and i see a kid do that, it def makes them receive less points. What you need is a bit more water. If you're doing it on anything less than a few inches of water, your board isn't going to have enough depth to really kick it. Bend your knees and when you go to pop your shuv use mostly pressure from the toes on your back foot. Pop it good and try to get a little lift under the board, and while you're spinning, don't lean back. It's a typical thing, but just like when you're ollie'ing on a skateboard, you don't wanna be landing into a tail stall every time. When you do it try to make sure your knees get brought up to the same height. If you're front knee endsup getting higher than your back, then you're gonna land off axis and shoot your board out. much like anything in skimboarding you're using your back leg with this trick more than your front.

the way i learned them is to think of it more as a 180 shove instead of a 360. start like you're going to 180 bs ollie and then shove it. catch it high and complete the rotation with your body, if that makes sense.

yeah, i know what you're saying. when i do big spins i turn my body then throw the shove right as my body starts to spin and it all just seems to flow perfectly.
just keep trying and get used to the feel and then pracice it some more and you'll get it, don't worry.
