hahaha you dont want pictures. there was four guys in 17 and older division, cameron c and chris alreack, then two guys who had werent really skimmers, just like floated out on the water a little and sunk. 13-17 was me and my two friends(i wonnnnn)but were not good at all. then the had like 3 little sand skimmer kids do a division and idk who won because they were like 8 and couldnt do anything. as far as conditions go on a lucky wave chris could loaf out, otherwise it was wrapping the thigh high walls that came down way to fast.
I think it will be better next year, they said there gonna change it to a day that breaks better and get it some more publicity.
ha i thought more people would of showed up. i'll be there next year for sure. hopefully good/skimmable conditions tho.

ya. well from up in the parking lot it looked good, and it would have been a lot better with just a tiny more swell and maybe earlier in the morning because it was pretty windy. also there was a huuuuge shelf which made the waves break kind of early, but hopefully thats just seasonal.
Yeah. Originally they were gonna have the WORST CONTEST FORMAT EVER (go for 3 waves and you're judged on 2) but we talked them into changing that. None of the judges had ever seen skimming before either. "You can CATCH WAVES??"
To their credit, they were literally informed a week before the contest that they HAD to put it on. Props to the city of Marina for making a rule enforcing that there be skim contests. The shop was psyched though, next year should be pretty sick.
