I used to go to shipwrecks all the time when I was little. I never thought of it as a skimboarding beach though. Although I havent been there for a couple years. Hopefully I will head back there one day and do as you guys do.

I went there for a week last year and could easily tell it had skim potential. However, theres nothing but tourists there and surfers in the line up.

Great vid! I really enjoyed the FS shwacks/sprays. How I miss Kauai, I swear man, your a very lucky kid to have the ocean you have. I visited Kauai and stayed in the Poipu area 3 years ago. I stayed around Brennecke's area. I originally wanted to surf while I was there, I was really getting into surfing while I was there, but Brennecke's was sponge only. But god, I sponged my ass off for the 8 days I was there. A huge S swell hit while we were there as well, man that was legendary. I remember taking a trip down to Shipwrecks. The hotel above the beach at Ship's is fracking rediculous. Craziest hotel I've seen besides the Grand Wailea on Maui. Hope you guys keep killin' it and that I get a chance to get back out there.

Thats awesome. I stayed in Poipu as well... Right by Brennecke's. I was in a house directly underneath the tsunami alarm. You jump the ledge at Ships? I was going to but the swim back to shore was way too long for my taste. I spent a few days at the rope swing (hear about it?) And yeah that hotel (Marriot?) was beauitful, but Im glad I stayed in a house. And the only place I saw by brenneckes that was strictly sponge was that cove west of that brennecke's bar or whatever its called. Just east of it were good surf waves.

Yeah I jumped off the ledge. It was sketchy/fun. Lots of people were there though. I've read about the rope, never encountered it. From what I read it sounded ill. Yeah, Brennecke's is where I sponged for the majority of the time, that is whenever me and my family weren't elsewhere on the island doing stuff. That place taught me alot about not fracking with the ocean when your in over your head. Sets there came out of nowhere, and you did not want to get caught in a set. The bottom was boulders/sand, which was not fun hitting. I got slammed once, but luckily wasn't that bad. Sponging can be so fun under the right conditions, plus the ease of getting barrels since your on your stomach. Very fun. Lots of local spongers ripped there too, fun watching them go drop knee and do aerials and such. East of Poipu was ill for surf. I walked down that strech of beach for awhile the two nights there was swell. I remember talking to a bunch of people who lived there about it. Very lively/down to earth. I don't know if you saw the Run down Hotel probably a couple hundred yards east of the Poipu main beach, but that was from Hurricane Inki in '92. fracking destroyed the place. An eerie and strangely cool place to walk by along the beach. kinda spooky. Those few days I got so much inspiration to surf, it was crazy (not to knock skimming). That's really when I got into the whole surfing thing though. I need to go back to Kauai asap. It's rediculous, so much vegetation.

I stayed in the condo's with the orange roofs. Pretty easy to pick out in this picture. Crazy how much I can retrace my steps from seeing this photo, I remember the whole route down to the beach. Killer sunsets from my lanai.

The locals were super cool... every night a different group of locals called me, my sister, and my friend over to come hang out with them. We also scored some pretty nice tree there as well. Ill load pictures up once I get some time.

Thanks for all the support guys. I'll try to cover up some random things in this post.

Cintex or Dan or Whatever, I remember meeting you that one time... kinda. Well, I don't remember anything really but I know I met you down there. Jumping off the cliff is fun

Woody, I'm pretty sure you did, fruit.

MIKEV, I know, I'm stoked to live here. The beach in the last pic got owned by Iniki.

Ted, Fred O, Don't you know it .

    Unorthadox, Kiley's housing.

Derek, if you're at the VIC we can discuss it.

And for everyone else I missed and inbetween, I'm glad you guys liked it and see the progress in the videos. It's the basis of the site... I mean... look at the name.
