It's very hard to keep a photo contest going. Although I feel like this thread is pretty active atm, just don't know if we could hold the contest for too long before it fades out. Like the roll of film idea, which I would like to do still haha.

Owner asked me if I would be interested in shooting a Aventador... Didn't need to be asked twice Give me 2 weeks to plan!

Don't know if I posted this. Random sailor at Cafe Nambawan in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

I was shooting with way too high an iso at the time and didn't realize it, but I like the framing of it.

Thanks chris, he was seriously in that position for 5 minutes plus.

That shot is really sick trevor. I don't know if you watched the video I linked on the last page, but it's all about literally in your face street photography. Pretty sweet. http://www.americansuburbx.com/2009/...cellence”.html

And on another note, my 30d just stopped working today for some reason. Or stopped working last night. I think it has something to do with me deleting a folder titled "software" off my memory card, (I was drunk for the first time in a while). I have to figure out this problem, or solve it with a T2i.

Solve it with a t2i. You will be happy with newer technology. Thats what I am most happy with from going from my 20d to 7d.

Long night is almost over, spent some time on this shot. Had a bud of mine help with the reds on the car, the before shot was pretty ugly. I've learned a lesson to never rush your shots in the beginning, makes post 200X longer and harder haha.

I really want a T2i but don't have the money to pick one up right now. Time to start a fund, and figure out the 30d in the mean time. Plus I wanna get a nice like ~17~70 lens wide angle with it.

What do you do to the pics when you edit them?

I got the jist of it with the labels, it came out good. I've been looking at lenses for the last hour or two and I decided I'm getting the 16-35 f/2.8L II, one day when I have $1500.00. I think I'm going to pick up an 85mm f/1.8 in the meantime tho($350), if I ever get the 30d to work again.

Did it last year, it works fine but people lose interest so we stopped before it got too boring. If you want to start it up again go ahead. We had some really good contributions, but it ended up that the same people kept winning (not a bad thing at all but it does become monotonous)
It'd be nice to have the photo contests back.

So no one can win more than twice. Boom. Done.

I have a disposable camera. Let's do the traveling camera project.

    • Each person has the camera for one week (including shipping time)
    • Each person sends $5 for shipping to the person before them via paypal

what else? Google doc to set things up?

I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get good glass for canon, gotta start somewhere. I browsed Amazon last night to and found some in the $250 range with a USM.

And what's the disposable camera thing?

good call. Honor system, each person pays to ship it to the next. Eventually it ends up back to me in NY and I'll get em developed and scan them myself.

Flat rate freee shipping boxes with the postal service if I remember correctly.

And here's a shot I took experimenting with low iso, 0 sharpness, and full contrast, first time I tried the combo.

    Let's set some ground rules:

Each person takes two photos: something yellow and something blue.

    that sound cool?

If you just selected the sky and put a warming filter on it in PS it would work well.

Used a ND filter and did some warming too it, could have done more but I don't want it to look fake. I don't mind the emptiness of the sky cause it adds to the calmness I think.

On a side note, client was very happy with the BMW shots and is setting me up with another shoot this Sunday all day with 4 cars in the afternoon and one in the morning (Mini Cooper S race car)

the issue with that shot is that there's too wide a dynamic range for one exposure to get everything. You either exposure for the bright sky, or the dark car.

    OR

You expose for the bright sky, and light your car with strobes.

Yeah I had to compensate and go half and half as I do not have any strobes. I would have done multiple exposures if this was a serious shoot/ remember to bring my tripod haha....
