So guys, I decided on getting the 7d. So excited! But I'm not sure what lens to get. I've heard the kit lens isn't very good and I dont want to have this amazing camera with a low quality lens.

    Anyways...
I was thinking about getting the 15-85mm IS USM for my first lens and maybe a 50mm II. Would these be good choices for my first lenses?

what I always tell my friends is to start with something that covers a good zoom range, and a 50mm 1.8.

The low aperture of the 1.8 will allow you to creatively explore what aperture does, as well as let you shoot in lower light. The problem is it's not a very practical focal length on a crop sensor body like the 7D. Anything that reaches from 15ish mm to around 50ish mm will be solid.

included: lighting a guitar on fire, and playing drums with bloody knives. I'll post some shots once edited

the issue with black animals is always having them being under with a correct everything else. or getting them bright or detailed enough.

Actually the only time I was there was for the family reunion. Best 3 weeks ever though. Ever sense I went there I have been wanting to go back, I don't know why. We were in Netherlands for 2 weeks and 1 week in Belgium and France. I wish I was into photography when I was on the trip, whatever next year I will get another chance

That crow shot is great, I like how there isn't much detail in the bird, gives it a gloomy feeling.

    Couple more car shots ::

I really liked those pier shots, especially the second one. I think you should try and long exposer of the pier sometime. The hdr one is nice, but the subject could have been more exciting I think, its a good shot though.

It's a canola/soy bean/corn oil refinery plant. You're close haha. Different kind of oil. Smells like dirty vag in and around the plant. It's nestled in the east end of the city where there's also a couple steel mills, so it gets mixed with that in the air as well. It's not a pleasant area. Cancer rates are higher, and if you leave your window open, black dust builds up on the window-sills. Luckily I live nowhere near this at all.

Yeah I really don't like the star burst in those. They are grainy and distracting. And yes you're correct, the first is HDR.

One more from the engagement shoot:

    1. First time shooting with strobes outdoors
    2. First time shooting a couple
    3. First time shooting engagement photos
    4. First time with an assistant/second shooter (my girlfriend!)
    5. First time using two strobes (LumoPro LP120 and LP160)

    STROBIST INFO:
I'm never very good at remembering power settings for one specific photo when I took around 150, but I believe I do know I had the LP120 on the right and the LP160 on the right. Triggered by Yongnuo triggers, with shoot through umbrellas
