Wow although I learned photography through skimboarding I feel like I stepped out of my "comfort" zone/ "norm. Since I have been so into the Automobile world I forgot about the core photographer inside me. But thanks to the strange Sacramento California weather lately with all the rain our river levels have been the highest for many year which means no flatland skimboarding to be had. So we finally decided to check out a local lake (Folsom Lake) cause there were rumors surrounding the conditions. I didn't end up firing many shots as I was more stoked on hanging out with some good friends and taking a day off and enjoying myself I guess you can say..

    Gabriel,

Not too bad. I think it's just the position of the sun that changes the perspective of your shot. For this shot, I'd probably won't aim the camera towards the sun's view because otherwise you'll get an underexposure and loose some detail from the surrounding buildings. But, per say if the sun were to be setting? Then I could see the picture in a different composure. Nonetheless, great shot.

shot something besides skim and surf for the first time in a very long time a couple days ago, it felt like everything was out of place or boring. I know exactly what you mean by stepping outside of your "comfort zone", sacto.

    thanks for the answer, dude!
actually, my intention in this shot was show the sunlight as a light pole, so i needed to aim the camera towards the sun and get all this unexposure... and since i dont know how to do hdr, the shot got this dark areas

Went camping for memorial day and tried my first star trail. There was a lot of light pollution so I couldnt keep the shutter open as long as I wanted too, but it turned out alright.

skimin kid... good stuff. Wish you could've found some foreground to include for a little more perspective, but it's a solid shot nonetheless. EXIF?

I'm pretty sure most people take multiple exposures and then combine them to get the whole "rotational" light trail feel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

I believe most people take multiple exposures to for light trails cause keeping your shutter open for so long is very bad for the sensor and people don't recommend it. But sick never the less

haha Erick I thought that fish was huge at first. Then I saw the fingers.

SACTO, the puddles in the bottom left of the shot are cool. The buildings look pretty interesting too. I like the colours in it a lot. The car shots are sick (the 355 spider in particular. I think it's one of the best looking cars, ever). They make 360s look like a whale holding it's breath. Almost looks like a starbucks convention in that lifestyle shot at the car meet. Skim shots are sick too. really dig the black and white ones (skimming in a hoody, so bad ass haha). Makes me miss the Michigan boys.

I'm gonna hack my S90 so I can get a 59s exposure and try a star swirl shot. I live in the country with a field behind my house so I think it could work.

Skimfl, I think the depth of field is too shallow in your third pick. Some things are blurry that throw off an otherwise interesting photo.

Trevor that first one is amazing! Its so sharp and the rain makes for great bokeh. I can never get rain to really show up when its in the air.

Here are some recent point and shoot pictures, except for the last one.

This is a panorama from 4 images. Its my first attempt at a panorama.
