the car is a bit noisy, id layer it and add a bit of blur to it to soften it up and adjust the opacity till it was a balance of smoothness/detail

Thanks Tommy!
I'll give that a shot Gnip and the reason why the car is grainy is because I forgot I was shooting at iso 800 ahhh so disappointed, this was the least grainy of my shotsI learned my lesson though and will always check the iso before I shoot, the reason I didn't is because I usually shoot at ONLY iso 100.

Ahhhh shit that sucks man.
When you experiment, try shooting at a higher ISO, faster shutter and bigger # F stop. Sometimes the lighting can change based on the different combinations, but like you said, keep it lower. I rarely go above 250-300.
I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!
I'm starting to experiment more with f stops, I used to be used the smallest aperture(number) 24/7 but have learned that is not the best idea all the time. I try to not go above 200 (400 if I'm felling risky) cause the 20d doesn't handle noise that well at all. Heres another shot with (roughly) the same HDR settings at 100 iso though.

i cant stand HDR. just bugs the hell out of me. usually lenses perform their best and sharpest when stopped down. i only go to wide apertures when i want some redonk DOF or soft portrait.

Sometimes it works well though. Not al HDR pictures have to be crazy. Some can be subtle, like the rocks and water picture I posted before. I think F stop effects star bursts on lights during long exposures, doesn't it? I may be wrong on that.
The sky there looks a bit noisy there too, which is weird because the truck looks so smooth.
I stopped at a Benz dealer today. They have 6 SLSs there. One red one parks outside all opened up, a white and silver one inside, and a couple black ones downstairs out of sight. I hope my pictures turned out, but the back ground will be shite.

Some cameras will bring up a grid on the display if you use it. Editing is a personal thing. Some people like to post-process a little bit, some people like to do it a lot. It depends on what you want out of the picture, and what feel you want to give it.
I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!
Yeah sure HDR isn't for everyone it's just different, I was just playing around with those shots to see what can be brought out. I will usually do subtle HDR for shots where the sky is blown to shit. You don't have to like every camera technique as I personally can't stand "tiltshift" I fell it has no proper use but I still acknowledge it and get stoked when people produce good images with it but I will not do tiltshift myself.

yeah, tilt shift can be real sick when its done right, other times its just why...

i just dont like the super fake HDRs. but like what you were saying about blown out clouds, that's when it produces some great shots (IMO of course)

Usually I'm very anti-hdr, but those are very tactfully done
Any insight into the processing technique? CS5? Photomatix?

My gear: Canon S90, Velborn tripod about 15 years old. maybe more. gorilla pod. It's fun trying to see how much I can extract from this little guy.

I used HDR Efex Pro, I like it but most of the presets are grungy so you have to tweak them to your liking (like most effect/plugins) But what I really like about HDR Efex Pro is that it is streamlined with PS and actually works inside of PS.
Sometimes I used HDR just to bring out the ground though, does some cool things.
Not the best example, but you get the idea ::
But last HDR just cause hahaha
Non HDR weird
Edit : Is that B/W all 6 of those merged into one? Cause it look nuts! In a very good way.

I really want to try this out.

Went to the Benz dealer by my house today. They have at least 6 SLSs there. One of them was a tomato-red colour. So hot.
Comp is super tight on this one, but I'm so happy with how it turned out I don't really care. I was rushed when I took it. Such a sick car. They turned out really good in B&W, but I couldn't hide the red.
Just messing around while hanging out with some friends by the lake. One of them turned out pretty interesting.

the noise from the SLS will make your balls shoot into your stomach. the gorilla pod is really pretty useful if you dont have too much weight on it. i keep one in my car for just incasies

Now aren't you lucky, the Merc dealership near my house does not have any SLS's at least last time I looked, great shots though it's hard to shoot at dealerships. Also that link just brought me to a list of flickr groups?
Lake shot is interesting, I like how the tower leg is lit up, anyway you can shoot it again with out people in it haha![]()

The gorilla pod works well for me. I bought the one for dSLRs but since I only have a small camera it holds it up well.
I tried to wiki it but it doesn't exist. Essentially, you spray the back of a piece of paper and print your photo in an ink jet printer and get crazy results.
here's the right link. http://www.flickr.com/groups/transaquatype/
I liked the ghosting of the people in it. Maybe it would work better black and white. I think it's more interesting with them in it.
You have a maserati dealer no?
I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!
so you just print and spray with water?
damn infractions
spray first i believe. and it matter which side you spray on. I think it's the back since it pulls it through. You probably need a medium weight cardstock so the paper doesn't get chewed up too.

JC, I like the bleakness of those photos, especially the second one. Could've been neat to see it from a lower perspective, but then you might've had to get in the water, and who wants to do that
I know this is getting really nitpicky, but in the water, there's a dark object in the bottom right corner. Cropping that out could've helped keep the focus centralized

Gnip we have just about every exotic dealership around here, Maserati, Aston Martin/Jaguar, Range Rover, Mercedes/Audi/BMW, Ferrari ect ect blah but the Merc dealership is really anal and frown on photography anyways haha

Has anyone else seen these flashes? I have one and its really pretty powerful and useful. Cheap too. I never use it as it is pictured in the photos connected to a camera, I just use it as a slave set up away from my camera. Ive gotten some great shots with it. Check it out. Its 7 bucks

Wyatt can you put up some shots you got with that flash?
