Ev when you talk to mcClane ask him about the slope at east i might try and make a trip down there friday morning if the slope is alright. Does anybody else have a recent slope report for east beach?

Really? I went to east yesterday (5.5.08) and it was pretty nice/decent. I was there from about 3-6pm. Hella cold though. The slope was decent. It was a great slope at around 530pm or so. These pictures were taken before then and don't give an accurate view of the slope.

And I did in fact get owned by this last one...

Secret spots are for surfing. The other side of Charlestown Breachway was working when me and Josh were there a few weeks back. Really nice slope and waves that broke relatively close to shore. That's a last resort though, Matunuck just down the road is where I'm aiming to frequent more often. From the looks of ImmortalTechnique's post, East Beach isn't completely dead, just a lot more tide dependent than before. Matunuck had great slope and waves breaking on the beach when I checked it and looked as though it would stay that way regardless of tides. Plus its just a new place to check, we've been skimming East for years. There are a number of places people can check now if East isn't necessarily working.

I'm home on Wednesday and I'm driving back to Providence on Tuesday morning for my last final, so I should definitely be skimming and surfing more often.

dude let me just go ahead right now and say out of our group of friends i was the one who said we needed to start checking the breachway regardless of my reasoning we checked it the summer before last once and then went to east cause though th breachway was good we wanted to skim with the crew at east.

that is all my gloating for the day thank you and peace

Breachway main beach has never been an outstanding wave, but Josh was talking about the opposite side of the channel. I still think Matunuck is going to be the best wave in south county this summer, even though I've only seen it break once.

Local winds for South County RI are looking questionable. Pretty strong SW gusts forecasted, we will see how it pans out.

On another note, just as I was kind of getting settled into my new job, the manager asks me to work Tuesday (my day off) in which I stuttered for a second to say yeah, (obviously not wanting to), we'll see, I feel pretty confident in telling him I don't want to the next time I work, so we'll see.

Visited Rexhame tonight to grab a bite to eat on the beach with the 10 dollars I found on the ground yesterday. Little ankle high waves coming in but the sunset was ridiculous and I scoped out the sand situation on the main beach and the point.

The Main Beach is still sporadically rocky and pretty much skimmable with an older board that doesn't hold much importance. The rocks are really spread out and maybe a foot from each other and not that big, pretty manageable if you want to skim and have fun. About 100 to 200 yards left of the point is a pretty sizeable sandy patch that could be fun at mid-high tide.

The point is just starting to get sandy and you can tell its on its way to looking what it did last summer, not quite there yet, but definitely making progress. If you want to see it for yourself make a drive over there because these pictures don't really accurately portray it too well. Overall a nice night and happy I got some skim recon done, haha. All taken at fairly low tide.

    excuse the terrible cellphone quality.

    The point (holy bad pic)

So yeah, excuse the bad pics, but it gives you a general idea. I really need a camera bad.

which is why there is sand...we need some solid sw winds so the sand builds quicker

well I checked it at a lower tide, when did you check it? I don't think one day of light onshores could dump that many rocks.

i was there at high tide around 430-500. alot of the sand was sucked away by the waves uncovering all the rocks. you could tell, there were little cliffs along the beach where there used to be sand.

waves werent too great either. the period was like 2 sec, so skim wouldnt be that fun
