I'm sorry if I hurt someone.


But I can't tolerate that someone try to garbage to myself.

Please understand that since you came on and
posted something that is a blatant rule violation
with your first post, I had no way of knowing
whether you were doing it to be inflammatory (bad
person) or just because you did not know about the rule.

Please keep in mind that this is not me or exile
that is concerned about these things. When I
woke up this morning I had three voicemail
messages from people across the US telling me
about your post. Many people are concerned about
the direction of the industry if skimboard
manufacturing becomes far less centralized. This
is not about exile, it is about skimboarding.

If you have contact information for the person
who put that video up on google I ask that you
please give me his email address. I would like
to talk to him and see if he will consider taking
it down. Of course, I cannot make him. This is
not Cuba. But I would like to talk to him about it.

I do not have anything against you , but my mind can not assimilate why you try to cover the reality , skimboard technology are not different from kiteboards, for example.

If you have only erased the link in my first post and send my a mail telling that I'm in a bad way, this situation was been avoided.

I don't have anything against companys, quite the opposite.

The video is only information about the procces, people would value most his boards.

If persist banned me or earase your acst in that email , then if when I devote myself against companys whith a lot of information about shape ( in this forum, in a new web, blog,.......) a skimboard.

As I told you via 3 emails... you violated a rule of the mb. Hence the post was deleted and your account suspended.

As you suggested above, I did erase your first post and then sent you a polite email explaining why. I also suspended your acccount as I could not determine whether or not you did not know about the rule or were trying to violate the rule. You never responded.

I have explained very clearly why the rule exists in the past. I told you where you could view such an explanation. I also told you that if you had questions about it to please let me know, so that we could discuss it.

You have not asked me any questions and instead of writing me back you post a thread under a new account, including a quote of my private email to you. Which is subversive in and of itself. But I have nothing to hide.

I know I cant stop anyone from putting things on their own websites etc. But for my website which I have no doubt been working on longer than you have known about skimboarding, this is the rule.

Like I said numerous times before, I am willing to discuss the reasons for the rule in detail. I would welcome talking about it with a fellow skimmer from europe. Additionally I would like to talk to the person who put up the video in the first place. But you have not given me his contact information. So, if you would like to talk about this further, you have my email address. You can also respond to the private message I sent you if you like. I would prefer to have such a discussion in private, so I do not start another argument about it on the message boards.

I would like to be very clear that I have nothing against you and have not tried to attack you in any way. I think that maybe the language barrier might have lead to some misperceptions (mistakes).

I also did not ban your original account but rather suspended it while I waited for you to email me back. You never emailed me back though...

and for those of you who havent already seen the explanation why the no board building rule exists, this is from another thread:

well, this rule existed long before exile was ever conceptualized. So its not about "me", or exile....

its about the proper direction of an industry. the skimboard industry needs to be modeled after the sucessful board manufacturing industries like snowbords and not like failed manufacturing industries like surfboards.

Snowboard manufacturing is a good model. There is a core group of companies that compete against each other and almost all contribute substantially back to the sport.

Surfboard manufacturing is a fracking mess because there are so many "local shapers" (thousands...) that drive prices down by working out of their garages or whatever and give nothing back to the sport of surfing. Even big shapers like Al Merrick don't substantially contribute back into the sport cause they are simply swamped with competitors who are "doing it for the love". Which actually works out fine for surfing cause there are big clothing/lifestyle sponsors to fill that void. Without them surfboard manufacturers could not hope to fill the void.

Skimboarding doesnt have that. We need mfg companies that can be profitable enough to reinvest in the sport and pick ourselves up by our bootstraps, cause no one else is going to do it for us. We need a core group of manufacturers working together, and against each other, to make the sport bigger and better. Otherwise this sport will never grow...

I am not acting as a barrier to new people who want to start companies, I am just refusing to be an enabler. People who want to make skimboards can go figure it out the hard way just like Tex, Bob Smetts, Adrian Prince and Chia did (amongst many others). Anyone complaining about not being able to figure it out on the internet doesnt need to know in the first place.

I would think that because of the fact that the OP is from Spain, which probably has an even smaller skimboarding scene than the US, he may be out of touch as to why Aaron has these rules in place. This is of course besides the fact that he broke the rules, I'm just trying to look at it from his perspective.



I agree with AP though.....who do you think sponsors and pays for contests and videos? These smaller ompanies who are reinvesting themselves in the sport...for the progression of the sport and their own survival. Do you think Joes blow making baords for himself and his buddies are going to do that? Not a chance.

El unico proposito era que la gente pudiera saber como se hacen y que es lo que estas pagando. Creo que era mas interesante que hablar the si zap es mejor que exile, o de que los skimboarders son demasido flacos.

Entiendo que si es el foro de Aaron, el pone las normas y hay que respetarlo; pero no creo que ese video violara alguna de ellas, ya que no se explicaba casi nada y ademas no esta en ingles. ¿por que las compañias de skimboard (Exile por ejemplo) no publican videos o fotos de sus procesos e instalaciones?

You did break the rule. I make the rules. So if something is done that I dont like, I will just change the rules. But it is not necessary this time. Because that was clearly breaking the rules. If you cant talk about how to make a skimboard, then its obvious that you cant show a video of how to make a skimboard.

Exile and other manufacturers do not show photos of facilities and processes. Such things have always been considered a trade secret (company secret) ....for all companies. The reason why they do this is to protect their secret processes. All manufacturers make their boards a little differently. If Exile for instance does a lot of research and testing to develop a new way to do something, the last thing I want to do is go tell Zap and Victoria. I spent a lot of time and money learning how to do something better, why should someone else learn it for free? This has nothing to do with the rule on the message boards. This is just common sense. Otherwise there would be no incentive to try and innovate and improve your product on your own. Why spend the money if you can just copy someone else?

No skimboard company could be called a monopoly. Five competing companies is five competing companies.... this is not a monopoly. Incidentally, there are way more than five competing companies. Exile is 4 years old. Obviously it is possible to grow a skimboard company if you know what you are doing. This message board rule does not keep anyone from making a serious company. If you want to make a serious company you dont need the skim online message boards.

I think I described in a fair amount of detail why this kind of information could be bad for skimboarding. I think I have made a strong argument. I think that if you were in my shoes and knew the things that I have learned about promotion, marketing etc... then you would have the same opinion as me.
