    Default Converting .MOD to .AVI

Searched google and found nothing good to help me and sony vegas wont help me. Instead of capturing the footage i copied the clips from the folder on the camera (when plugged in) and made a folder on my computer and pasted. I couldn't capture for somereason but i just want to convert these files. How can i, either convert them to .avi or .wmv

    they are originally .MOD

P.s. From a different link found from google search, user responses:

The .MOD files are already mpeg2 files, I simple rename them to .MPG, and they play smoothly in PowerDVD or in other application.
If you use PowerDirector you uselessly recompress the files.
Also Look at this useful application: http://perso.orange.fr/gilles.bihan/index_uk.html
    Bye.

I’m pretty sure you can just rename .mod files .mpg, and they play. Sounds bizarre, but true. Seems like they are indeed MPEG2.
