its not that i don't want the wrx, i just simply cant afford the insurance on it and the rents aren't willing to put it under their names, my cousins focus is worked alittle and it hasn't had problems at all really, and i don't mind the 4door sedan

you sure seem to know what youre talking about..
considering i've owned a 96 FORD bronco that ran well just over 200k on the clock. and a 91 FORD explorer that had 140,000 on it when i got rid of it and was still running fine.

edit: and this is only 2 years of personal experience i wont even bother to smother you in facts.

because we bought a ford windstar back in 98 and that thing had more problems than every other import we've ever had combined.

good for you. it is still a fact that domestic cars are far more unreliable than japanese imports. go right ahead and get a domestic if youre good with cars and know how to repair them.

Nothing. The implementation of this current generation of hybrids is absolutely retarded. If youre trying to get optimal gas mileage, a diesel electric hybrid is way more practical. But I dislike the concept all together mainly because of the battery issue. You have to replace/dispose of them and it is a major hazard and PITA.

so there's basically nothing wrong with the focus haha okay then
    :]
I'm trying to get a decent platform to work with but i worry about the focus because it only has 140 hp
but parts for the focus are fairly cheap whereas parts for the tiburon on wanted are ridiculous

idk if you guys realized this but dj is talking about ford trucks/suv with his experiences, and American trucks are with out a doubt better than any imported truck/large suv.

tundras suck. the only good toyota truck is the tacoma and thats not a full size truck. The nissan frontier is also a pretty good truck but still a small one. full sized trucks are dominated by the domestics.

the chevy vans are reliable as hell. + most had 4x4.

YES. an 89 civic will outlast an 89 taurus. owner for owner (maintained the same)

that tundra is real piece of shit. the numbers manufacturers put out show it is like .1/.2 seconds faster in a 1/4 than the domestic trucks. who fracking cares. try hauling a 15000lb trailer with that hunk. GOOD LUCK. youre gonig to need a powerstoke, duramax or cummins for that

the taco's are a fantastic line of trucks on the other hand. titan..... same deal as tundra... UGLY UGLY UGLY. its a 4 and a half foot bed... you might as well just get the pathfinder

The imports still win. I picked up a hand-me-down '86 accord when I started driving. The only thing the family has ever done to it maintenance-wise throughout its life was a new clutch about 10 years ago, oil changes occasionally, and new tires every once in awhile.

    There is "reliable"
and then there is "hood popped once or twice in 25 years"

when you say 'Imports still win' you seem to indicate that youre saying im wrong? and you are right. yet you just completely agreed with me when you said ACCORD. NOTHING on the road will outlast those old acuras and hondas

You're comparing apples to oranges. In no way can a tundra stack up to a powerstroke, but for a gas truck, it holds its own weight.

I have always loved the look of the 01-04 gen tacomas, though. They look so good, especially in prerunner form.

A jetta has to be the biggest chick car ever and diesel gas is almost the same as premium gas as for price right now, plus the 2010 insight probably is the best looking hybrid that gets 40 mpg thats out right now ( my opinion).im over the whole speed thing
; even though having a all wheel drive turbo car is always fun. anyways im about to turn my mazdaspeed6 :/ this june

i was moreso comparing yota to ford, etc. you want to go gas vs gas i can do that too. tundra=1500 all the domestics have a 2500 that's probably even cheaper. seriously, im not even spitting out facts or numbers. i dont even wanna get started because ill never stop. i love my american trucks but in no way am i biased.

to ^ Benwa. that diesel engine will crank out more MPGs than whatever car youre refering to running on premium(or regular, for that matter)

if you compare diesel TRUCK engines vs Gas... like the 7.2 (?) ford diesel in the excursion vs the gasser (DOG of a v10) they throw in there... in the end the money will even itself out.

The setup they have now is cool in my opinion. You can always keep the car running without using up gas. If you drive it right, the electric motor takes the brunt force of getting the car started. It's actually a pretty cool concept. I agree with you that there are better alternatives out there, but it's definitely a good start to the whole hybrid thing

You realize you can easily swap out that motor for a k-series, and have major potential. And you're talking about getting parts cheap. Plus you have a reliable honda. If you want a tuner car, there's a reason there's so many tuned hondas out there

its still a jetta to me though. My family have had 2 jetta's the 2002 model. they were a constant hassle with the transmission slipping. so jetta's left a bad taste in my mouth after that, also the fact that there was always a check engine light on for the most little thing.

its not that i don't love my civic, i do very much, gas mileage is awesome, but its an auto, and has 168 thousand miles on it. I'm looking into either focus's or gti's I'd want a gti but like i said, cost of insurance is still and issue, if the cost of insuring the gti is anywhere near insuring the wrx i wanted then its back to the focus. It's still up in the air, but those are the two choices. As for performance tuning, i don't mean cheap as in shitty, but and example is that high grade headers for a ford focus arent much more then 400, while headers for a tiburon = 700 on some that i've looked at i could be wrong. But like i said I'm looking for a decent base platform to make into a pretty quick car, with a cheaper insurance cost. :]

Get an si and go NA

Its not too hard to put 200hp on the ground with a k-series. Plus hondata pretty much fixed the mid-range boredom with their ridiculous reflash (+30 wtq anyone?)

If I wasn't covered at all ends with warranty on my FG2 I would probably do a race-header, hondata program, big-ass breaks...

my vote is def for a k series. hxc, you're a mechanic so it shouldn't be hard for you to do or find someone to swap for you. Parts are pretty cheap for the k series. I personally would find a swapped hatch.

K series is from an RSX or am I thinking of something else? Like an F22's little brother?
