Sick, nice find! That car should be a blast.

This Saturday the Miata becomes a fully prepped STS (Street Touring Sport) car. JacksonRacing CAI/Header, RacingBeat cat back, Koni Sports with groundcontrol threaded sleeves and 500F/350R springs, and Corbeau Forza seats. After that I'll finally get a proper alignment and then should be killing it at autox. Especially since I can then remove my rear sway bar, which allows the inside rear wheel to droop farther and get traction out of corners. More go pedal! On the cosmetic side, at least I can finally stop monster trucking it.

6 speed f430, tits! With how small my car is I'm wondering if a vinyl wrap may be the DIY cheap ticket vs a paint job. I'm sure it'd be horribly frustrating, but to get a whole new color, that's not pink, would be worth it.

I would say do vinyl, it would probably cost you ~500 in supplies and just use youtube on how to apply the vinyl. I can help if you have any questions, it's pretty much just applying a huge sticker.

Might call it there, I don't know if I want exhaust or it might be too loud.

almost all "good" exhaust brands will make exhausts with just a better note, not necessarily louder.

Thanks. The newer stuff is all shot on a GoPro 2 which I like a lot. The older stuff is on a Vado HD.

I have been thinking about picking one up for autox and karting. We don't have many twisties around here, kinda sucks but whatever. I found one for 180$ on craigslist but the guy isnt emailing me back!
Koni's are 20 percent off now!!! Thinking about picking up a set with HFP springs. Or I may just do a progress rsb, hawk hp+, and fluid

Anything that stiffens up the back. The stock suspension isn't that bad... just a little too much body roll (especially in the back). A rsb or any setup with higher rear spring rates will help overall... especially at auto-x speeds.

In similar news, I'm trying out the Pro-SII kit this weekend. As soon as I heard all the complaints from the hard-parkers about the spring rates being too high I knew it was a setup I wanted to try out. I've got them sitting in my room... Slapping them in this weekend! I might get an rear bar too.

Stock suspension is great, it's mostly the shitty tires that come with it. Getting rid of those soon haha. Body roll is kinda bad sometimes. I go kart a lot, and after you kart, your car feels like your side mirrors are going to scrape the ground!
The spring rates are good on the Pro-S, it would be better to get the 14k rear springs though. The only problem with Skunk2 is the dampers. No damper on an OTS coilover will be really good, they all use the same dampers basically. The only OTS coilover I'd buy is the H&R, as it uses blistein monotube shocks. I do like the skunk2 Pro-C, but the dampers still arent up to par. If I were you, I'd return the Pro-S and get koni/ground control or redshift (costs about the same). Not trying to be a dick or anything lol sorry I just want to tell you before. If it's DD and suspension performance doesnt have to be the best, keep the Pro-S, but they are mostly for slammed cars. I also like the redshift coilovers A LOT, but they arent really OTS. Definitely get a rear bar and some front camber bolts if you dont already have them.

Spot on. I saw 14k rear springs on their site and thought I might like those. They're 10k out of the box in the rear and I think 12k front for the 8th-gens. Good news is I got these for 500 cash and can sell them for the same even after I put some miles on them. Everything I've heard from actual skunk2 representatives says that slamming their stuff is never recommended. No damper is any good slammed. With the old pro-s (typical coils) you'd go lower by unloading the spring all the way down so the car would compress the damper more at rest... theoretical maximal slamming would therefore be a bottomed-out damper and a spring with very little load on it. You could do the same with these, or actually TOP-out the damper now with preload, thereby allowing you to forcibly shorten the spring (by preloading it against the topped out damper) and using that extra room to shorten the shock all the way. Either way your dampers are rendered useless.

After thinking I realized that all preload does is determine how compressed your DAMPER is at rest. It does nothing to the spring or the spring rates once installed unless you preload past the corner-weight of the car (past a topped out damper, installed, at rest). The preload feature is actually pretty useful then because you can lock in the ride height that you want and still ensure that your damper has appropriate compression and rebound travel. I think 90 percent of kids don't even pay attention to this (or misunderstand it) and end up running a bunk setup. Then they of course complain about it.

If the damper rates are just too low I'll be able to tell you that as soon as I get them on! Solution to that will be a softer spring...

Softer spring or a shock valved to handle the stiffer spring. I've read plenty of posts on miata.net from people that have something like 800/550 spring rates (stiff as FFUUUUUU for Miata's) on high quality, properly valved mono-tube shocks and they find them very streetable. Obviously people looking at stuff like this have a different threshold for streetable than your average driver, but I've seen some say they found the ride better than when they ran OTS Koni sports with 550/350ish. 550 is about the absolute limit of the koni sport without being re-valved so the shock is barely able to control the spring. Almost makes me want to save up 2k for something like the Xida's.

For reference stock spring rates are sub-200, something like 150/100.

Yeah miatas are light as fuuuu. Mine are gonna be ~670/560 F/R but I can easily swap for a 780 rear (for moar oversteer) or just throw on a rear bar... same price and effect.

This picture sucks, I'll get a better one once I get a chance to wash the car up. Coilovers, seats, and high flow cat/exhaust installed. Have to get a flange welded on to my header as he found out mid parts swap his jackson racing header was welded to the muffler on the other car. Also bumped the timing to 12 degrees. Stock is 10, mine was at 4-5 so needless to say the car has WWAAYYY more pep. The exhaust note is nice for a 4 banger, not high pitched or farty sounding.

Anything involving paint usually = super fun. I hate painting, even the most simple stuff like a wall. What color do you want to go to?

Posted in the photo thread but I'm bored at work so figured I would post here to(probably posted the shot of my hanging out before though). Here's my super sweet wagon of love. I would love to have something I could track and autocross (like a S2K, so jealous of you guys) but this will do for now.
Also decided to hold off on the mods as I want to save for the next 6-8 months and see if I even want my A3 anymore. This thing has been through alot since I have owned it
