New sway bar and end links installed. The front end is MUCH less sloppy now, especially on turn in. Oversteer is much reduced, which in higher speed sweepers should be good, not sure about low speed. I might disconnect one side of the rear bar (common practice in STS class since we have Open diffs) which helps keep the inside wheel on the ground and get more rotation.

Nice. Civic guys usually do the opposite (rear sway bars) for more rotation which is obviously good for auto-x and messing around but I'm hesitant because I do a lot of higher speed stuff. I don't know enough about suspension to know whether that would be a huge problem on 60+ sweepers. Maybe not.

Yup, that's why the SCCA is making a rule change for stock class, which should mix things up. Used to be you could only switch out the front sway bar, screwing over FWD cars. Now they're going to make it so you can change either one, but only one. In my class you can do whatever you like so the two top dogs are the Miata and the CRX. What's good for autox usually is NOT good for tracking/higher speed stuff. The rotation required for a tight course just gets dangerous or at the very least unfavorable at track speeds. This more than anything for me hides how blown out my shocks are lol. I can't wait to throw some new shocks and ground control coil overs under there...plus newer Miata tophats to get more suspension travel at a lower ride height.

I wish I knew more about suspension. I barely even know what I'm doing changing settings in Forza.

Thats what I thought. I think that will keep me from getting a rear sway even though it would be fun. If I remember my Best Motoring correctly, almost all GT cars are set up to understeer at the limit because a car that understeers can be driven closer to its limit sustainably. Nothing wrong with understeer once you reach the age of 17 and realize that driving fast > spinning around in parking lots.

NFL Playoffs today meant we had to do a run (no traffic).
First rain in awhile here so it was massively slippery:

Looks like a fun road Caster, be safe out there. Today was the first major rain of the year for Sacramento and I couldn't believe how many accidents there were out there. A few drivers got close to curbing their cars while leaving a euro car meet in the morning...

    I don't think I posted this yet..

Thanks, man. I never push it all the way, even on one-ways... On open roads my margin for error obviously has to work for the most unexpected circumstances.

The roads here are so sweet. I love redwoods.

It rained all damn weekend after the sway bar install, but this morning with the roads partially damp/dry I got a go run on one of the only twisty roads we have (by twisty I mean like 3 consecutive corners, that's all we get ). Couldn't push as hard as full dry, but it's already noticeably more planted and doing the same speeds with more ease. Yesterday morning it was just WET and on the way to get muffins I had fun with some throttle on oversteer to mess around while no one was out and about. That and wet roads are the only time I can do such a thing, otherwise it doesn't have enough power to break loose lol. Nothing silly, just finding that point where the rear end starts to lose feeling, apply a little neutral steering or slight countersteer and ride it out...fun shit.

Speaking of an s7 I took these pictures of one (first I had seen) at the golf course the other day. It was pretty sexy in person.

Karma is one of the one cars I haven't gotten a ride in, same with Tesla's... That video is awesome though, someone showed me it a few days ago. Love the use of the camheli and rc car as a camera angle

Also sad day for this Zonda owner...

Just got back from Day 1 of autox. Holy fracking awesome! Since it was a school session they wanted us to test stuff out a bit, was hanging the back end out a few times with subsantial counter-steer. Any ways, the real timed event is tomorrow, I feel pretty good about doing fairly well, but I'll need to get my new wheels/coilovers and a real alignment before I get really fast...and more seat time.

Awesome cabo! Let us know how you do! I've been saving up for a Miata for club racing, but I've been looking into daily drivers to double as autox cars. I think it looks really interesting, and it seems like a great way to improve my reflexes that would help on the streets

No official timing yet, but my best run was a 46.1, that should have been a 45. Coming out of the last tight turn into a sweeper to 'wall'om (a slalom with more cones) I put the hammer down and didn't want to lift. Would have been fine, but went barely off the racing line to the outside and hit gravel, had to lift, save it, miss cones and cross the finish. That run slayed my 46.6 though and put me ahead of a few MR2 turbos, s2k's, newer miatas including one supercharged and most of the field in RAW time. Once PAX (handicap based on vehicles so you can directly compare a miata to a vette) is figuredI should be sitting pretty well. Cars that beat my ass naturally had the best drivers and setups, including a Cobalt SS, Celica GT, Civic Si, very prepped S2k and gutted Miata on slicks. I'm very happy with how well Sim racing is transitioning over. I definitely think there's a lot to be said about learning to perfect running a racing line in sims to compliment the real world.

Double post from my retard android it looks like, lol. Any ways, here's the results. 13th of 37 in RAW time (outright who's the fastest) and 10th of 37 in PAX time (vehicle handicap). The fastest Miata I could even compare too is the #6 STR. It's newer, makes more power and has an LSD, but it's a target I should aim for. I was about 2.3 seconds off him and he's fully prepped as far as I can tell. I only have a stiffere front sway bar. Still need coilovers, stickier tires, 1-1.5" wider wheels (bigger contact patch on the same size tire), bump my timing to *14 from 10 and really important and easy...an alignment. Beyond that I need power mods, which cost a lot and won't be worth much in time, so I'm just going to try to get all handling mods done asap.

    PAX - http://gulfcoastregionscca.org/results/1-29-12pax.htm

I'd stick to handling mods too, atleast until you feel it'd be necessary to get power mods, or until you save up more cash for that part.

Under braking is absolutely hilarious, I was dying the first time I watched it haha.

Also, if I get enough back from my tax return (I already got another form AFTER filling and will need to amend it) I'm going to be getting a sweet deal on some 15x7 Kosei's wrapped in 195/50/15 Dunlop Star Specs...awww yeeee. These wheels are 2 pounds lighter than the ones I posted before and look pretty damn good. I figure my current wheels are probably in the 15 lbs range. I can't find them online any where so I can't really check...but that only leads more to me thinking they're on the heavy end.
