I guess I see what you're saying. Its just a little different here I think. It seems to be more of a turbo band-wagon because all the kids want is a car with turbo, not necessarily a specific car.

It started with EVO's at first here, where everyone wanted them, then they all saw how fast turbo's can push a car, and how cheap you could get them here. Now people still have the Evo's but they're also buying Toyota Aristo's - twin turbo, Toyota Soarers - twin turbo, 180's, 240's, subarus, Toyota Alteeza's, and there's 1 or 2 silvia's along with a few skylines, only 1 being a GTR.

Anyways, in the end, all I'm really getting at is that it seems like all these kids want is turbo, to look cool, and go fast; to run around on a little pissy island, with narrow ass roads.

'70 Chevelle, got it when I was 14 and my dad helped me build it. it was trashed when i bought it, but it's a totally different car now. we did everything to it except the paint/body work.

    Tons of pics here:

Thats a fracking badass car man. So many people would pay to have an opportunity to work on such a sick car. Its also sick to see that your dad helped you out with the build.

How bad was the body and interior when you started working on it?

Thanks man, the body wasn't too bad (minor rust) and the interior was nearly perfect. The majority of the work was in the engine, trans, differential and brakes. Whenever I save up the $$$ I make it faster, I've ran 4 different engine combos lol. I haven't raced it with the new engine, but I know low 12s are no prob with traction. Yeah, it was a lot of fun wrenching on it with my dad.

Thats sick. I had a 65 El Camino and ran the same rally wheels.

What engine combos did you run? and what are you running now?

Thanks man, I've always like the 60's Elkys! It had a worn out 383 stroker when I first got it. Once it threw a rod, I got a stock style sb 400 long block (bored .040 over to 408ci.) About a year later I threw on some World heads and a Crame cam. Last summer I tore it down again and bumped up the compression, put better heads on and got a bigger cam.

    Here's current combo:

    -Small block 400 bored 0.040 over (408)
    -Speed-Pro Hyper pistons:
    -10.0:1 compression ratio
    -AFR Eliminator 195/65cc heads
    -Lunati Voodoo cam:
    233/241, 276/284, 0.504/0.525, LSA: 110
    -Summit 1.5 roller rockers
    -Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold
-Carter AFB competition series 750 cfm carb
    -MSD 6A box
    -1 and 5/8" Hedman headers
    -2 1/2" full exhaust with a H-pipe
    -Turbo 400 trans
    -Hughes Performance 2,500 stall
    -12 bolt rear
    -Richmond 3.55 gears
    -Eaton posi carrier

When I get out of college I'm dropping in a 540 big block.

It's great, big enough for a nice launch out of the hole, but small enough to cruise with at highway speeds. That's why I went with 3.55s too.

Nice, that sounds fun as hell to drive.

Me and my buddy are going to start a project car next year, and right now were pretty determined to start a 29 model a.

Were gearing towards something that looks like this.

That'd be badass. It's so light it would barely take any power at all to make that thing scream.

Seriously. Some guys are running 350 engine 350 tranny in those things and they just haul. Something like that would also be reallly fracking fun in a parking lot.

I'd like to see the dyno with/without the turbonator. I don't trust them, just like the tornado. I've heard people who lost horsepower after they installed it.
