I did that mainly cause me and my friends would sit around hammered just trying to blow smoke rings.

I never wanted too. Then after both my Grandparents died from my Grandfather's smoking I was 100% off any tobacco.

In TN, it is illegal to smoke in buildings.

yeh i was going to post about this. Cigars have nicotine. Even thought you dont inhale, 1) some smoke (with nicotine) does get into your lungs and 2) the smoke can goes through the tissues in your mouth (hence why you sometimes get a buzz/lightheaded/nauseous on a heavy cigar if your not an experienced smoker. Its similar to dip and it giving you a buzz my going through your mouth tissues.

Anyways, does really matter to me. Just wanted to point that out. I love cigars. like many, some close buddies and I (no homo) enjoy a nice liquor and poker/football game/chill event to smoke a cigar during.

EDIT: just checking my facts and found this Each cigar contains a lot of nicotine — between 100 and 200 milligrams, or as many as 444 milligrams, where as one cigarette has about 8.4 milligrams. !!!!!

I forgot to mention this. Ive smoked a pipe for like a week when i was out in the country fooling around. Felt like a grown ass man. Surprisingly the taste was really good. Anyone smoked from a pipe before?

Tobacco (dip) gives you that "buzz" due the tobacco getting into you're blood stream from the gums. Even some companies put carbon to cut very very small holes in your gums so it moves faster.

ive heard the thing about companies adding fiberglass, sand, glass, and other abrasives. I have heard especially of Kodiak and fiberglass. Im 95% sure that the fiberglass thing is false though. A long passed rumor.

although smokeless tobacco manufacturers are allowed to protect their list of ingredients as a trade secret, they are forced to privately disclose their ingredients to the government.

The Comprehensive Smokeless Tobacco Health Education Act (CSTHEA), Public Law 98–252, was passed in 1986 to inform the public of any dangers to human health resulting from the use of smokeless tobacco products. CSTHEA requires, in part, that each person who manufactures, packages, or imports smokeless tobacco products to annually submit to the Department of Health and Human Services the list of ingredients added to tobacco in the manufacture of smokeless tobacco products as well as a specification of the quantity of nicotine contained in each smokeless tobacco product.

Think adding fiberglass would be allowed?

Here's a quote from the Department of Health and Human Services:

Myth: I have often heard educators and speakers say that tobacco companies put fiberglass or glass shards in spit tobacco to produce microscopic cuts in one’s mouth so that nicotine is absorbed quicker, and therefore addition is quicker. I understand this is an urban legend, but would like some proof to back it up when trying to dispel the myth. Can you please help?

Reality: Paul Turner, Oral Health America, states that, "there is no documented evidence that manufacturers add fiberglass, glass or any other non-organic compound that would induce lesions or cuts within the mouth of the user." There are a few schools of thought on how this became a myth. Paul Turner speculates on how this urban legend began. He noted that some companies were re-adding extra tobacco remnants at the end of the every day to maximize production. These “floor sweepings,” as they were called, were done in “clean rooms” however the idea of “floor sweepings” may have contributed to this myth. Second, tobacco leaves themselves are fairly abrasive and are known to cause soft-tissue abrasions in the mouth, without any additional ingredients. Third, part of a detailed compound analysis identified silicates in the particulate matter of spit tobacco. While silicates are used to make glass, they are also found in sand and are likely a byproduct of the tobacco farming process and actually organic matter. This sand would also contribute to the development of cuts and lesions in the mouth.

I find issues with Dipping Tobacco Research in general.

There are no agreeing by scientists about a lot of the affects of dipping. The EU who is hard with Tobacco says: According to European Union policy, Scandinavian or some American smokeless tobaccos are at least 90% less hazardous than cigarette smoking.[17] However, the habit is still addictive.

I would work for Philip Morris too and be like the guy from Thank You for Smoking. The company doesnt kill people, the people kill themselves. Its like McDonalds or Starbucks, both linked to heart problems, but doesnt stop them. People know the problems with cigs and they choose to smoke them for whatever reason and then some die from them. I would never smoke so I wont die from them, pretty simple and a concept I believe most understand. Damn and I am arguably one of the more moral people on this board (even been called a right wing Bible thumper).

my friend was driving me somewhere the other day, and had a "dip" and got so high or whatever off of it that we almost wrecked. he was so light headed, we had to pull over.

gnipgnop, maybe its different in canada, but here, pretty much everyone under 30 grew up hearing how bad smoking is for you; whether it was on the box, tv ads, radio ads, or just word of mouth.

ive never smoked anything (weed, cigs, even hookah) but its the smokers choice; most of the time, no ones holding your nose closed and forcing you to inhale. just know that youre making a relatively bad decision health wise.

lol. my gf is the same way, 1/4 japanese, but you cant really see it unless you knew. if in 16 years, i see a 1/4 asian moderate-conservative lawyer running, ill be sure to vote for you because, from what ive seen, we have similar stances on pretty much everything.

i, on the other hand, wouldnt be president of anything but a company. im not the most.... diplomatic in handling things. its more like "you dont want to do what i want to do? then come up with something better and take over everything while youre at it."

yeah, i seriously dont see a republican winning this next election... no matter who they nominate. the way bush is seen right now, pretty much every independent and some of the more liberal republicans are going to go demo. this is why i am praying that clinton doesnt get the bid. so far, i dont have a huge problem with obama, but clinton would just be horrible. i hope giuliani or mccain gets the bid for the pubs. i havent heard that much of romneys platforms, but he seems really insecure and impersonable in the debates. and huckabee's just an a-hole

haha is it? i guess it all depends on life experiance and what your tastes are. While im not saying its a good thing.. smoking can be really really sexy.. if youve ever played with smoke and shotgunning and such with the girls i have then you wouldnt think like that..

that being said, im sure the fact that im really attracted to psychotic/'bad' girls will probably be the emotional death of me far sooner that the physical.

myself, ive kicked cigs, dip, and most recently cigars(since weed has become my drug of choice) for my money id smoke weed over cigs anyway. say what you will about vices... i look down on your elitist hangups in the same way.

replace old habits with new one's. I guess I don't quite understand ciggs. I smoke too much weed tho so I guess I can't hate. The cigg high only lasts for about 5 mins for me. Thats with zero built up tolerance. I can see why people hit packs a day. Tweed's high lasts alot longer so why smoke 10 ciggs when you could smoke 2 joints.

    Polonium 210 (nuclear waste)
Tobacco-specific N-nitrosamines or TSNAs (cancer-causing agents only found in tobacco)
    Formaldehyde (embalming fluid)

Long-term effects include leukoplakia, tooth abrasion, gum recession, gum and tooth disease, loss of bone in the jaw, yellowing of teeth and chronic bad breath.

Other health consequences of using spit tobacco include cancer of the mouth (including the lip, tongue, cheek and floor and roof of the mouth) and throat
