you should pm some of the flatland skimmers here before you get swamped with ridiculous responses.

Is he now riding a wood or foam board? And which one do you think he wants, find that out first....

Anyways...for 150...frack getting him a board. Or go half with him or something, or pick up a nice used one. Actually if it's mostly sand then you may have more luck. I'm not sure how much a j. gordon board costs. It will still be tight though.

Like Jim (J Gordon) said, what is he looking for?? he may be riding a cheap wooden board now but desires a composite/foam board that can perform to his abilities. When people that are into the sport say "flatlanding," its typically done on rivers or beaches that have much standing water. They dont ride waves with their boards because they are wooden and not designed for it.

...I dont know if youre using "flatlanding" as in your boyfriend slides across the sand at the beach and rides waves when they are there. Or that he flatlands rivers/lakes and only travels to the beach when waves are there (storm weather).

the type different styles of the sport usually demand a unique type of board (wooden for flatlanding, composites for wave riding)

FLATLANDING: Im not to familiar with flatland boards. there are several big names which people can refer to you (J Gordon, Dashboards, ZED, Kayotics). i dont know their prices or what is fitting for your bf.

WAVE RIDING: A ZAP Wedge is a common board that people start on. Your boyfriend might not exactly be a beginner but this is one of the few quality boards you are going to find under $150 (a size M runs $130).

A mid range board like a Zap pro, Vic ultra, Slotstik slotvac, Exile s/e-glass are going to be out of your price range.

As with most things in life...quality comes with a cost. skimboarding is one of those sports where you can go drop all your money you saved selling lemonade on a $500 board.

If he does mostly flatland then go with some type of wood board. If he wants to do more wave riding then get a board like a zap wedge or vic ultra. If you search the forum you will find what yoru looking for.

she said she wanted to spend <$150. a wedge is $130 for a M. An Ultra is $250 for a medium. wake up and make good recommendations.

You won't find very good boards from what I have seen for less than $150.

Edit: Refering to boards more suited for transitioning to wave riding if your bf is wanting to learn to wave ride.

Well, It does help to research these things.

You can't just go with what is at the local surfshop, I did that and wound up with a wavezone.
You did that and wound up with a meyer.

There are far better boards out there, that are reasonably priced, if you look.
