We are going to deep fry our bird. We haven't started cooking it, because even the largest bird cooks in about an hour. No, it's not greasy. The oil is so hot it makes the skin taste like fried chichen, and the inside is so juicy. God, I can't type anymore. I have to go and start frying our bird. Try it next year if you never have had deep-fried turkey. Happy Thanksgiving everone=)

I'm getting tired of people calling it turkey day. It's called Thanksgiving. It's not about turkey it's about giving thanks for what you have. I'm getting tired of everywhere i look people are calling it turkey day, on tv and everything. If it was meant to be called turkey day the pilgrims would have named it that. They're making everything too commercial nowadays. Just remember today is not a bout turkeys but about giving thanks for what we have.

i can agree with the foundation of your arguement, that Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for the many blessing which we have, and we shouldnt necessarily focus on the food associated with it. But society has been doing this forever. We attach things to a holiday and transform it into one of our own. Christmas, halloween, thanksgiving...many of the traditions rooted in these holidays americans added. Much of society forgets the true meaning of celebration. Veterans day is just a day off from school, thanksgiving for food and football, christmas for gifts. Im guilty of it in some cases, but i try to remember the reason behind the day and give a prayer.

I laughed at your comment "if it was meant to be called turkey day the pilgrims would have named it that." - the pilgrims didnt call the day of freast Thanksgiving...that came later in history. heck its not even sure if they ate turkey (actually was other wild fowl, venison, lobster, seal). A day of thanksgiving to the colonists was actually a religious holiday where they would thank God for something, typically winning a battle. Lincoln declared the day official in his Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1863.
