Default Noel : Possibly bigger than Perfect Storm

I'm starting to believe them. 75 mph gusts forecasted for the Cape tomorrow, some say 85. Once a Hurricane as I'm sure many know and now just a huge storm system. Looks like its wreaked havoc all along the East Coast so far. Interesting discussion going on in my regional forum.

    this is peggoty today.

the waves are proabably 5-7ft, which is small compared to the rest of the coast (10-14ft) i tried skimming it earlier but the wind made it impossible to drop.

In 5 years in virginia beach I have never seen the waves get as big as they were today, and that includes the morning after isabel hit.

    tomorrow will be epic
i just have to get up early for the tide

and that pic doesnt do the waves justice. they were breaking beautifully with a nice heavy lip, it was just the fracking wind. it was cross/offshore at about 40 with higher gusts, if i could monkey crawl well it would have been awesome.

Yea, it was absolutely ridiculous thursday through yesterday surfing wise. It was about head with head and a half sets breaking in about waist deep water. Heaviest I've ever surfed, I actually broke my board which sucks.

    It was worth skipping school.

My dad just told me it's "about as big as I've ever seen it rideable here", and he's lived and surfed on the OBX since '72. He also said he'd send me a couple shots that he took yesterday from the pier, the same time & place those other shots from surfkdh were taken, unless of course Jesse Hines was surfing more than one spot yesterday.
