No kidding? I haven't heard anyone talk about glass packs for *years*.

The problem is they're loud and obnoxious all the time - you can't sneak through your neighborhood, or slip past a LEO without getting noticed.

I think they'll get old in a month.

Something like a fully chamber Flowmaster will give it a super deep, ol' school tone and be semi-quiet for driving around town (only really loud at WOT).

+1. Glass packs are extremely red neck. They sound like shit. Buy a good cat back or just a flowmaster or borla muffler.

Still cant forget the shitty ass "muffler" my friend got for his dodge dakota I think it was. Ass went to some place around here and got the cat cut out, and had what looked to be chain link fence posts welded onto whatever was left.

Not only was it loud as hell, and sounded like shit. But a little while later he was shocked because he was having MAF sensor problems and related air flow hickups. Needless to say, I wasnt suprised...

I've got this annoying ass rattle coming from my exhaust though. I know its rattling against something somewhere underneath the car between the engine and the cat but I couldnt tell. It would rattle when I bumped it with my hand from under the car, but still couldnt pinpoint the noise.

A couple months back my car had 3 other people in it, and the resonator (I think) hit a lump of concrete raised off the road about 5 inches, putting a little dent in it. I dont know if the noise is coming from there, or from the heat shield or what though.

I need to try get to the muffler place one day and get them to lift the car so we could look at it though...

Apparently it's their 40th Anniversay next year.according to this site.

Here's an interesting video comparing flowmasters to glasspacks (on a v8 though)

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, get a Dyno-Max cat back. All three of our jeeps have them. They are not too loud and have a nice deep sound. They say that Dyno-Max has less backpressure than the other brands. I'm not sure about that, but it sounds good, seems to have more power and costs less. No, I don't own stock in Dyno-Max.

it depends, if you still have your cats on its not going to be all that loud. I don't really think its going to sound good. as much as I hate to say it, flowmaster for your application probably would probably sound best. then again, borla sounds great on pushrods.. frack it do borla. and if you decide to get a high lift cam, put electronic cutouts on the bitch.

Yeah dyno-max catback is the brand name, you can get what ever you like. All I'm saying is all 3 of our jeeps have them. Go check out all of the brands and check out the price. Everyone is saying get brand X, but they are not telling you anything about them. Ask them if they have them on their cars??? Tell them you want info.

DT is right, that's what we wanted in the old days. In some states a straight through muffler is not legal. That's what good about a catback, it's not a straight through muffler.
