I know how you feel. Back pain runs in the family. Skimming makes it worse. One reason why i take so many pictures now. Before you skim lay down and like stretch your back. Its hard to explain but it helps me

Warm-up and stretch before every session. That should help relieve stress from over tightened muscles pulling on your back.

    hahaha. well thats healthy.

dont know the cause. i get lower back pain from bending over to lift up boxes at work. it could be the twisting motion if you are wrapping hard. Ive heard of people who throw their back out and get a bad pain for a week.

id say just stretch it out every so often. should get better if its only soreness. If its a pull muscle/knot/pinched nerve it will take a lil longer.

i say ankles and wrists are more prone to injury for me.

if you recover from a back ache or something treat it well. dont baby it though.
a lot of people make the same mistake of treating it like a baby because there scared of throwing their back.

recover. work out your back. make it stronger so it wont happen again.

Your back muscles are in a knot, so you need to make them relax, take a hot bath or shower. Also some kind of pain meds. if you don't have any, some back pain meds are just aspirin. Take at less 2 if they are only 325 mg. It will help your muscles relax.

i never stretch and im fine now from skimmin. you probably bend down to drop your board or bend down when you do something when you are skimmin and it s gettin sore from that.

The back pain is because you use all your core muscles to stabilize your body when your are balancing on the board. Your abs and lower back muscles all get used but your abs may be used to it from doing other things. 2 ways to prevent:

Get in the gym and do supermans + abs workouts + hammys

or warm up sufficiently, 15 min jog down the beach. Don't stop until your are drenched in sweat.

Other wise get those Shaq back pads cuz your f&cked.

i'm the same way, i was thinkin it might be skulliosis or somethin, but i'm not gonna get it checked because i might not be able to play sports...and that would suck.

p.s. have you ever had it start when your standing and u fall to your knees if you can't grab somethin?

sit on your knees and lean back...i get it all the time if i have been skimming after a 6 hour sesh or soo..that or if i go straight from work to skim...hittin the gym and working lower back helps tighten out the muscle..for now relax it..hot showers and icey hot works.

My back always hurts after skimming. I think its because of the way your holding your board as you run, it puts pressure on the lower back.

You just need to stretch before sessions. I hurt my back skimming before. I would land tricks wrong and pull my back. Now I stretch and haven't had a problem.

Ive never really bothered stretching before a session, unless of course I forgot to stretch after my last. I find if I take a long shower after skimming and stretch while im in there for a good 15 minutes I dont get sore or achy like I do if I dont stretch it out.
