    Default Vic Conditions...Opinions???

This is what WetSand has to say...Doesn't look too promising

Today (Sunday) is a small day for surf along the California coast. A slight increase in wind swell is expected this week as small southern hemi swell persists. Some SW is due around the 24th, but this is looking moderate at best.

Friday the 20th the wind swell will likely back down to waist high. SW remains next to nil: knee high or slightly better.

Saturday the 21st, at this point, looks terribly small. Weather though, at this point, is looking rather balmy for the beach this time of year (mid to low 70s as high pressure makes a comeback). Surf though is another story.

Sunday the 22nd is also looking like a weak surf day.

That's the way it goes for a lot of contests. Sucks that they can't have a wait period or something to wait for a swell. Oh well, still wish I could be there.

i think every photographer should go out and buy a water housing if they dont have one, and all of you come to the beach ready to shoot water shots from every angle...and skimmers, bring your helmet

Its not looking good at all. If the sand and slope are in good shape sometimes small waves like that can have fun conditions... but with the terrible trough and rock garden that Aliso has been for the past 4 days or so its not looking good at all.

The vic has had great luck with conditions the last 6 or 7 years. In the 90's, that was rarely the case. We used to joke about how the contest always had the worst luck. But what can you do? Looks like Domke would definitely be entering my fantasy skimmer right now... if that website didnt disappear...

even when its small, aliso is generally hard for florida people to ride. it breaks differently. people from just arent that used to it without some practice.

they should move it to lagunita, I pretty much stopped going to Aliso the past 2 weeks and just head straight over to lagunita cause its pretty much always good or decent.

i love how east coast must be at the upperhand because of small waves. ???
like west coast kids never do tech tricks and only ride big waves with barrels.
its still going to be a good contest as long as good skimmers show up.
pissed i missed the entry date. but i'll be there snapping pics.

... as aaron was saying. its not always the size or even the power of the waves at aliso. even though power plays a big part. its also the beach style. as in the steep slope and the way it breaks. maybe faster. not quite sure. but aliso is definitely a different spot.

Yeah, but at least when its bad conditions at a skimboard contest, you cant get angry at anyone specifically. Where if it were a skateboard contest and someone built a shitty park, then you could get mad at the organizer/designers.

It's about a mile north of Aliso pier, on the other side of treasure island past the montage hotel.

wind red tide ulgy light fog really hot and sweaty and nasty out no waves but ulgy little white waters that show nothing of skimboading and what the people that are trying to "skimboard" on them have.

lots of "gay-boi"/"cool guys" walking around that could never even drop a skimboard running

maybe a little boy on boy kissing like two years ago.

900.00$??? nahh "they" have to do better then that. but maybe not

better waves when the kidds go,like every contest.

    The latest from WetSand...

Saturday the 21st, at this point, looks small, although we’ll need to see how the models deal with this wind swell over the next couple of days. At this point, it looks like waist high waves most everywhere with the best size at west facing breaks. Weather though, at this point, is looking rather balmy for the beach this time of year (mid to low 70s as high pressure makes a comeback).

Sunday the 22nd is also looking like a weak surf day. All models seem to agree that wind swell will back down, which would be our only saving grace, since no southern hemi is on the charts for that timeframe.
