Get Well Soon Domke

Last night I received word that Brad Domke broke his leg while skimming in Cabo.

I have been told the break is "bad", but should heal 100%. I understand that there were fractures near his ankle in his tibula and fibula, as well as his "growth plate"(???). It required surgery and last I heard, that was scheduled to take place at 9AM this morning, in Mexico. Paulo's father is an orthopedic surgeon and fluent in spanish, and he has been in contact with the surgeons, making sure everything sounds right. Brad was surrounded by many friends and his family was contacted immediately. I will post updates on his condition as I hear them.

What I was told by one of the locals down there is he, skelator, and sammy were all going out to a pretty good size wave and skelator and sammy went in Brad went to the top and air dropped the thing and did what is now said by Aaron. Alot of people really dont know the power down there its crazy especially if its breaking at Yellows. Once again get better quick donkey

Aaron... Growthplates are on the end of your bones, if i'm correct they are just like ordinary bone as soon as you are fully grown untill then it's not very good to break them..

@ Domke: Get Well Soon!!! don't like seeing other skimmers in pain... or hearing they are in pain!!

*EDIT* looked @ Exile team-page... it says he's only 16 years old (maybe 17 now)... at this point he's not fully grown thus his growth plates break is if i'm correct even worse then a normal break!

yeah a broken growth plate is not good. my friend broke his growth plate jumping over a pool fence. stupid but yeah it can effect how much you grow. depending on what side it broke can make one side taller than the other....best of luck.

this really sucks though... luckily he's not on my team. but the important thing is that he heals ok... breaking a growth plate is serious stuff. I'm sure he'll be fine.

duuude. that is so rough. especially in mexico. i've been around a lot of gnarly breaks in dirt biking, but it's scary to hear about it in skimming -leave it to cabo i guess.

Thats really kind of you to offer Luis, but I think Pualo and the guys have it under control. Operation appears to have gone smoothly this morning. I talked to Brad's mom and she said that Brad had most of the team just staying with him in the hospital. Paulo is nearly fluent in spanish, so I am sure that helps. He is going to stick it out in mexico for at least the next couple days. I think he goes back to the hotel real soon.

I'll tell Paul to go to the hospital, maybe he can help a little more with the spanish thing.. I also talked to my mom, she said that if Domke doesn´t want to come back to the hotel he can spend the rest of the days at my house, my mom and family wil take care of him.. anything Aaron he needs you know he can stand by us, specially in Mexico.

Bummer. Domke really expressed potential to take down some pros in Cabo, and being from the East Coast... sucks when stuff like that happens. Preparing for the biggest contest of your life, and shit happens.
