here's the fee: http://whitmatthews.com/phish/1999-07-08_Fee.mp3
This is an audience recording, so it's not as good as a soundboard, but soundboards are hard to come by from 99 (it's a shame b/c Trey's doing a lot of really sick fast noodling during the heart of the jam that's kind of hard to hear). Shit just takes off after the lyrics, it's a slow build but it gets badass. This jam is a perfect example of their patience and their ability to sit back and let things take shape rather than forcing things.

That reminds me of being at the Heat playoff games when Dirk Navitski would shoot the arena would chant
D-A-V-I-D H-A-S-S-E-L-HOFF
with the hopes Dirk would miss his free throws or what not. Good times.

That is the song from Guitar Hero 2. Thats why I like it so much. That song is fracking hard though. Granted I don't own the game so it makes it harder for me to be able to keep up with the guys who do. Sick song though.Originally Posted by jcon217

Download a bootleg called "Portable Immortal" next if you get bored of those. He has a lot of fans who make unofficial remixes and there are some bootlegged freestyles. It's some pretty original stuff.Originally Posted by xghstx

fracking sick
I have the Junta cd's and a bunch of mixed live stuff that my cousin gave me. My favorite song is probably farmhouse, but other than that I just like pretty much everything.
really the best one to listen to is Big Cypress (12/31/99), but that's like 9 CD's (it was a 2 hour afternoon set and a midnight to sunrise 7 hour set) so that's a lot to download (if you want highlights, get the Down With Disease, Crosseyed & Painless, Sand > Quadrophonic Topplings, Drowned, those are good ones)
8/9/98 is a good show to start w/ (I'm biased b/c it was my first show, but it was badass)
7/11/00 is another good one
It really depends on whether you like the more funk and electronic-influenced type jams, which came like 97-on, or if you like their earlier, looser stuff. Listen to those 2 and depending on what you like or don't like I could recommend some others. It's like the phish version of pandora.com
Edit: How could I forget 12/18/99? fracking amazing Hampton show. All the shows I've named I've been to but there are other greats, these just happen to be my faves that I saw and are all solid shows. 7/11/00 actually won an award for best live show of the year in 2000. Big Cypress is what phish themselves consider the apex of their entire career (specifically the 7 1/2 hour set)

I'm listening to everything
I see that you are a fagot because you are riding that fixie.
umm... Hurricane Chris....
i think im gonna go hide now
I ended up downloading both the Big Cypress shows (30 and 31) from the site you linked to earlier. The quality is pretty good, and from what I've heard so far it's some real good music too. Thanks for the reccomendations.
teh new interpol album
sold my board
a two stepppp, a two stepp
i'm ed.
Drop Dead, Gorgeous lol.. that's pretty much it for this week.
go on.
Wait till you hear the Split Open & Melt > Catapult from 12/31 day set. It's one of the most well-crafted jams I've ever heard, almost to the point where it sounds composed (but not quite). In case you don't know, Catapult is a spoken word track from the Picture of Nectar album. When they play it live it's sometimes spoken, sometimes sung, with a completely different melody every time. The one from there sounds pretty awesome considernig it's improvised.Originally Posted by Ryan Vaughan
Ok cool, thanks. I'll check that out when I get a chance. It sounds like it's going to be pretty sick.Originally Posted by Ryan Vaughan
