Exclamation Potential in the Evergreen State - 2 pics

On the 4th I took my family and met my friends at the beach. Was a nice day there was an average swell, and the air was warm. Wind was making it a mostly left handed thing, but it was still fun.

The cool part is my wife was there taking pictures of our kids and friends and stuff, I was looking through the pictures and noticed she actually took some skimmin' pics. They are too far away, and of poor quality, and at the wrong time, but at least they show some average waves from around here if some of you are interested in coming this way.

There were some tremendous set waves coming through, but they were a little to far out for our abilities, especially in the wind.

I'm going to check the pictures again to see if she caught any of the big set waves in some random picture.

Looks so nice. But how deep is that standing water? And is there any slope?

Yeah, the slope got blown out over the winter. Basically the place where the camera is was about 3 feet higher last year. The water is about knee deep where the skimmer is falling off the board on the second pic, where last year it was waist deep.

In the pictures we are at low tide incoming, at high tide when you are standing on the fluffy sand, it is pretty steep. Last year with good slope, about 90% of waves were reachable by anybody. Now only 50% are reachable by those who can side slip a little bit. The slope is slowy coming back, I don't think it will be back for another 2 years.

There are some sections of the beach that are a lot steeper, but like I said we had families and friends mostly there for a picnic, so we chose a spot where we could drop of all the coolers, babies, and stuff without having to walk with all that stuff.

Well it's still not bad, and the waves aren't too far out, but the old slope you were talking about would sure be nice...
