it is a good movie, but it is misleading as to what the Nazi party stood for and why they came to power. It also confuses old fashion American racism with Nazi fundamentals.

i disagree, it shows that the nazi party had no tolerance for anyone who was not of the aryan (sp) race. they also came to power basically through fear. the leader, cameron, is portrayed perfectly as almost another hitler on a lower level. and i can kinda see what you mean about the racism and nazi fundamentals but i still think nazi fundamentals are somewhat distinct and not exactly like old fashion American racism

I just saw it for the first time a couple weeks ago. I forget his name, but the younger brothers transformation was kinda unbelievable, but still a great movie.

The Nazi party never came to power because of fear. They came to power because of the economic circumstances prevalant in Germany after WW1. Germany became a very poor country because of reparations to other countries. This caused a loss of pride in their own country as no one could afford anything, money was basically worthless. The Nazi party offered scape goats and a way to get National pride back. This was why they were voted into power. Fear never came into at first.
The right always rises to promince during times of economic turbulance. Just look at the recent elections in France, even areas of low employment in Britain are voting in Fascists.
The Nazis basically offered up immigrants and non-Germanic people as their sacrifice which is technically xenophobic and not racist.
Did you also know that during the 1930's with Hitler in power Germany had 100% employment.
None of the countries that fought Hitler fought him because of his crimes - these crimes were later defined as crimes that the Allies had not commited -

they fought him because of his expansionist plans. Which was finally what got America involved. After a period of propaganda that was stolen from Hitlers ideas!
And it was Russia that actually won the war and not America.
This was due to their steam roller attack style plans.
Just for the record before people call me out I am actually a fully paid up member of the Scottish Socialist party.

That one prison shower scene really spoke to me, excelent camera work and so well written, the contrast of light and dark, just great. Had to rewind through it a couple times to really grasp what the director was trying to do there, slow motion was a must. I don't really remember the rest of the movie.

good quotes: his conclusion...Hate is baggage, life's too short to be pissed off all the time, its just not worth it.

racism is not dispising a different colour of skin its about adoring your own colour

Vengeance brought on by hate...fear when it points its head in our direction, we take notice and everything changes, the way we choose our friends, the way we protect our families, the way we create enemies out of strangers. Welcome to America.

great movie. its on my list with Donnie Darko, Fight Club, V for Vendetta...i like movies that make you look back and think through out the whole thing. movies you know you have to see twice because you are going to catch all the shit you missed the first time.

that's what happens when you exterminate 6 million people. You get 6 million new jobs (plus all the new jobs in the human extermination industry of course)

The genocides did not occur till after then. The jobs were building roads, trains lines etc. Basically creating a whole new infrastructure in Germany.

I was just trying to point out that althogh a load of evil wrong things happened during that time. There were also many ideas that the Nazis brought to the table that many governments use just now.
Just look at 9/11 all the stuff the American government said was basically working on the same lines as how Hitler vilified Jews and Gypsys.
At the end of the day using peoples religions as a reason for exterminating them or going to war is just wrong.

If you keep an eye out it also circulates through IFC and AMC pretty regularly (I believe IFC shows it uncut).

first off, what is this 6th grade history? offer something we dont know

second, Russia didnt "win," Germany fracking lost. It was their dumbass that decided to fight a war on two fronts instead of concentrating their forces on the West. America won the war in the Pacific, we only helped the Brits and were more worried about the Japs. So, America did win the war, the war it was in. Russia only won on its front, because it was cold as frack and they burnt down everything all the way up to their capital city. Steam roller attack, no, more like sacrificing all your people, yes. The German force was the most powerful single force in the world and if they concentrated their attacks and left Russia alone, who knows? probably wouldve gotten nuked and USA would prevail again.

third, frack Scots, frack Socialists, I love to party. Be what ever the frack you want, but dont over generalize things, which you clearly are. Bourgeoisie ftw.

Most of the jews, that were killed then were from Poland, Russia (estern Europe). The biggest concentration camps were most of the people got killed were in Poland, which was occupied by the germans. (Auschwitz, Treblinka).

More like 6 million Jews + 5 million others (i.e. gays, disabled persons, etc.) =11 Million people

The thing that really gets me is we still have people in this world with the Hitler mentality. People like bin Laden...although he doesn't care so much about race, its religion thats fueling his fire. Or how about Rwanda, Darfur, Sierra Leone....savages.

When people become desparate they tend to look to the easiest and quickest solution. Stalin is another prime example...even worse than Hitler...responsible for about 30 million deaths. Thats a conservative estimate still to be determined by historians.

All of European history features the use of scape goats as a means to start wars.
Not European I know but check the Battle of Horus and Set.

Thats what a stem roller attack is. If Stalin didn't feel the urge to have a Russian genocide at the same time, Germany would never have fallen.

The whole Asian Paciffic warfare was all about colonailism. Therefore had no relevance to what I was saying.
