    Default Glossy Board Problems?

Is it just me or am I the only one experiencing that the glossy finishings on my exile board are starting to chip/peel off. I mean it's not really that big at the moment, but it looks like little tiny air bubbles and what not. Also, will this effect the boards performance in any way? Thanks guys!

not unless the rails wear down enough where you can see the foam. Just try to cover up those small dings on the real with suncure, or I heard even using super glue works

    textured deck ftw

nothing in the gloss will affect performance. Perform maintenance as suggested above if you want to keep it pretty. Otherwise shrug and keep skimming.

your art could be affected if the gloss has been chipped away near the area.

Textured deck is what I looking at for my next board but you have to sand it all the way until it's smooth to put on the traction or what? How long does that take?

if sanding the board is too much effort for you then stick with glossy. lord.

Not saying its too much effort. If getting textured making the board stringer means giving more effort in getting the traction on, then I will do it. I was just wondering.

i would never buy another exile that was glossy, i don't know anyone who has had one that the gloss coat holds up. stores need to start selling more textured boards because the gloss coat is just shit, but i guess the shiny gloss coat is what sells. at the same time if everyone glossy board starts bubbling up after a month or so i feel that's going to hurt repeat buyers. i ride a textured exile and love my board, but i feel the glossy coat is such a horrible product in comparison. why can't glossy boards be made with epoxy resin?

exile clearly pushes their textured deck boards for a reason. yet, little kids and grumpy moms dishing out $400+ for a board want to see the thing shine, this is why gloss boards are still selling like hotcakes.

a good glosscoat can be achieved with epoxy resin, it is just much much harder to do. polyester glosses achieve a greater brilliance than epoxy and is much easier to achieve as well. perhaps, if there were a polyester "cheater coat" of lam resin, the gloss may stick better, as there would be no addatives or wax (this is just my opinion).

we are using a new resin combination as of the first of the year (approx) that should improve gloss durability. but nothing is ever going to beat textured durability.

why wait till the first of the year? so you have time to test it out or something?
