Wet sanded bottoms don't look pretty but they def help.
Heck, I even made boards with left or right handed rocker for the heck of it. I tell you what, I loved my left handed rocker board for any...
I have made concave and texture bottoms--rode them for many years. We even tried the mini golf ball pattern.
For many years I have wet sanded the bottoms of my boards with 150 grit--that helps alot...
A friend of mine for many years has always done the suitcase as you call it. [nostep to me] His name is DC and I dare ya to tell him in person that it is gay!!!
I would have been interested but it is too small for me.

Nevermind---I got it figured out.
Skimming is the best sport ever. I am 44 years old and still think about it everyday.
Word of advice for you younger folks---skim for the soul of it--anything else fades away in time anyway.
...
It don't bother me. If I am having a bad day that is one thing but the camera doesn't cause it for me.
I think it's kinda the same when people choke in contests--same kind of mental thing anyway.
Honestly, I can't see how anyone could question the integrity of Aaron in matters of supporting the sport.
I am more of a soul skimmer, industry doesn't matter kind of guy but that was my point in...
I say we just fight. Meet me at Stumpys punk!
A Chizel is a nice board for the money. But a Pro would be good too.
A Comp is nice but at your level you may not want to spend the extra and a Pro would be heavier if that is what you want.
World wide or just the USA?
OK! OK! It ALL comes back to contests!! Skimming would be nothing without contests!
[happy now?]
Get the next step up in a Zap--should be fine for ya.
How many more skimmers do you think there are now compared to the boom of the late 80's?
I think you might be right about the only remembering the best ones thing though.
Maybe things are just different in different areas. Pros riding Florida flatness at a flat beach ain't much to write home about neither!!
There is always more talk of local rippers rippin' the local...
And for the record--I say the best way to support the sport is to go out and kill some waves!!
[unless you are a flatlander, then kill the flat!]
Agreed.
But most people soon realize that there is not really anywhere to go with their sponsorships anyway. It's a short ride for most.
"fractured" into different shapers?? I get what you are saying but if people love to make boards more power to them, forget the industry!
And yeah Teezers, for once we agree.
But i have known...
Aaron--I know what you are saying but....in certain areas an event could get things going, like the one you listed. But I think on the whole people skimming all the time and getting their friends to...
Most skimmers I have ever known don't go to contests. In any sport like this the majority of participants don't get involved in the official side of it.
Whatever though--this is just what I...
Aaron you said this in response to my comment about lower prices can help the skim population grow--
"So put simply, no, I dont think its supporting anything other than that companies risk...
I still disagree Aaron--a few examples of people who got into skimboarding because of a contest doesn't do it for me. I could name tons that got into it because of word of mouth. Heck, the skim scene...
Yeah, I know.
