only because you didn't prep and apply your pads right. I've had mine on for a year and half now and I skim every other day before and after class and there is no sign of peeling at all. never used any type of glue. unless your speaking from experience, don't believe the rumors you hear.

where do you hear this from? have you ever had any on your personal board? Most likely these rumors are coming from people who don't know how to properly prep and apply their traction.. like I said my board and friends boards have had beakers on for longer than a year and we skim pretty much every day west coast conditions and never used super glue. but that is beside the point of this thread. Keep the boards comin

first of all you need to sand under the area where you are applying them. It is best to use 150- 200 grit sand paper so you take away the texture on the board but don't have too many air pockets on the board so the pad adheres better. You want the finished sanding to feel smooth, not rough. I'd say anything under 150 grit will not work as well. take some acetone or another cleaner that evaporates quickly and put some on a rag and wipe the residue away. Make sure your surface is clean of all access resin. Dont use a cleaner that remains "oily" or leaves a slippery residue on the board(ex. Simple Green), it weakens the bond between the adhesive and the board. After the parts where you are going to apply are sanded and thoroughly cleaned, apply the pad from back to front to try to eliminate air bubbles. Press the pads down firmly with your hands and then go put some socks on and stand on your pads to increase the pressure. Leave your board to cure for 24 hours before hitting the water. I did all of that and my pads have remained on for the longest time and are still not showing any signs of peeling.

I asked the same question. Pads will stay on if you apply them but in the long run, they wouldn't stay son. It's a texture deck, so it'll be almost like putting scotch tape on sandpaper. I'd still sand it down till it's smooth so at least, the adhesive has that bald space to adhere better. Otherwise, it's whatever, your board, your pads.. :)
Skim4Lfe1988

its a medium and im 6'1 165. doesn't matter what size you get, it depends on your preference, if you want something that is going to float more with not being able to turn very well. get a bigger board, if you want float but manuverability get a board that is smaller... ive been riding my buddies medium square for a while and I seem to have much more control on the medium than my large board. I would most likely suggest a small square or any other small board. I wouldnt suggest anything larger than that for your weight

its a medium and im 6'1 165. doesn't matter what size you get, it depends on your preference, if you want something that is going to float more with not being able to turn very well. get a bigger board, if you want float but manuverability get a board that is smaller... ive been riding my buddies medium square for a while and I seem to have much more control on the medium than my large board. I would most likely suggest a small square or any other small board. I wouldnt suggest anything larger than that for your weight
Yea, at the moment I ride a Zap Large Wedge and it's 48". Yet the size chart on Square, recommends, I'd ride a S which is 50". I don't know if I wanna go larger, but the XS small is 47". Which should I stick to?

oAm steped there game up a shitload...
i jsut got the paulo back pad and long arch combo in the store i work at..holy shit sex
id say if youre not sure go up in size rather than down (especially if youre still learnin and all that). you can learn to maneuver a bigger board but you cant add more float to a board thats too small. i say go for the small.
plus 47" is a small ass board.
Thats TINY, haha. I have a ML and its perfect for me, and i'm small.

ive been skimming for a couple seasons, but i am not that good because of the shitty beaches. luckily the break has been picking up around me and i can finally get some shore break. unfortunately, my board has like zero float and i can get out far enough to get them, as well as me being too big for it, so i sink.

Squares have textured boards. I'm assuming you'd have to sand down the area on the deck where the traction pads would be placed on, or does it make much of a difference?

I sanded mine. I think people on here that didn't sand haven't had their squares long enough to be able to compare with someone who sanded. So we cant tell if it makes a big difference or not but that's usually the rule with all textured boards.
ps. when were these photo's posted? looks like an old model to me

it was from an earlier post. I was browsing around and I noticed that particular board. It has more of a oval/pin shaped tail rather than a squash.
Yeah Because I hear both stories how it should be sanded or how it didn't need to be. Just wandering because mines is coming in a couple of days and I just wanna be sure.
