Well those are the kind of waves im riding it on especially during the summer months, its not really too big for anything, you just need to be used to it. I see tourists and other kids on vics, exiles, and slotsticks bogging down in the wash and chop while these babies mow through that shit. I surf a lot so its great basically having a super short board to skim on, good for practice especially during long gaps between swells.


is tht maui board just a normal fiber glass or do they make carbon e and s glass ?

If you order from Brent directly you can get a custom carbon board, they're fucking sick a guy has one with two tail pads front and back on it. Theres no paint over the fiber so it all shows through, looks slick. Other than that its just fiberglass, but I had an extra wrap on the bottom and rails for reef. I always thought skimboarders were an original bunch of kids....now this is shameful... seriously how can you say that this is just a "purple & yellow" board not a full on copy. The only think difference in this board is the fact that instead of 05....they put AO. Im surprised they made it that original.

I understand why they copied it because when they try to pull out their own ideas they come up with that black and white catastrophe above.

I dont have anything against shortbus or kenny but if your going to create a custom board which is a cool thing to do, please make it a custom not a copy. There are plenty of ways you could have made a Laker style skimboard with out making it Exiles Laker style skimboard

The canadian skimboard scene is actually really big... I'm trying to push for a bigger wave scene though. I am luring Ben K out to BC sometime soon. We share the same Pacific Ocean that the Californians do, we get a ton of waves up here.... Just not nearly as accessible. 2hr+ drive and hiking through the forest normally.

It's a beautiful spot, you can camp right on the sand and the beach is over two miles long... Barely anyone knows about this place, even the locals, it's mostly a logging community.

i live in san diego this is true....but as many skimmers who have ridden with me will attest....im a vag when it comes to the cold and i will often be the only guy with a wetsuit on durring a sesh....

I would say it's def too far forward. Most people with Squares like the tail pad as far back as possible because you want your foot to be able to go all the way back to have max control turning. It shouldn't really take paint off if you unstick it unless you put something else like superglue on the bottom to help it stick.

ghostsushi, they are white skimshop pads that i got for really cheap. i didn't want white but i couldn't beat the price so i just bit it and got them.

there is about 4 layers of sharpie on them. holds up well enough. i had to do it cause plain white looked horrid imo.

I know man! hahah I had a sticky bumps base coat and it looked much better, but (this is going to sound finicky) I scraped it off and just put a coat of coloured sticky bumps on because it was too heavy with two coats of wax. My exile is super light and I like it that way. And I agree, the colour is a horrible base. It doesn't bump up at all.

I got it at Wallerbears surf shop it South Carolina.
