It's a Skimboard, took my old fish shape (which was shaped on the computer) & snubbed the tip & tail. Had the template cut out with a vinyl cutter & gave it to Rick to shape the blank. I'm over 200 lbs so I have to ride larger boards than most people do, it keeps the length down. It keeps the nose from digging, saves on wear & tear, not to mention faceplants. Tons of pop!

It's called Safety Walk & it's made by 3M. It's like skateboard grip tape but not as coarse. If you can handle Florida's shells this stuff is no prob. One time it got me on the top of my foot & grinded off some skin, not fun, but I HATE wax. Home Depot used to carry it but not anymo. I bought a roll online from an industrial warehouse (2" x 75') for about 80 bucks. I've done 2 boards & still have enough to do maybe 6 more. I like it a lot.

I've ridden this shape for over a year now on both coasts of Florida in everything from shin high wind slop chop to chest to head a-frame hurricane swell. It's good for wraps, liners, airs, everything. If you don't believe Me, there are tons of witnesses in the central gulf coast. The best way I can describe the characteristics is that it's very maneuverable, it's loose, but not too loose. I'd call it playfull. After you are used to it, you can use that looseness to your advantage. I'm sure It's not for everybody but then again, what is?

I think it would catch an edge more often and be a point of wear if it weren't angled or rounded off. The first one was all black & the angles added to a stealth fighter look so I went with them. It works.

it is a solid pad; it's got a really nice arch and looks great, but it's a fairly small pad. if you have big feet, or if your back foot is really far up in your stance, look elsewhere.
