Congratulations to Randy "The Natural" Couture. 5 time UFC Champion. He dominated Tim Sylvia. Randy was taking Tim down at will, landing clean hard punches, not to mention the knockdown he had against Tim in the first 10 seconds. It is true that 43 years old means nothing to him. He showed so much progression in the stand up game.
Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin both got back onto a winning side with victories over Chris Lytle and Jason MacDonald, respectively. I actually wanted Jason to win, but Rich's stand up was just too much for him.

cro cop will kill randy...much respect to couture though. Silvia was never that good IMO. Heavyweight division in the UFC isn't that impressive, cro cop will change that. Also the light heavyweight division just got more tough with rampage in it.

ok so now onto GSP vs Serra...I think either GSp is gunna win with a quick knock out or its gunna be a long and boring decision for Serra.

The only way I can see Matt Serra winning this fight is if he somehow manages to take GSP to the ground. While he is a world-class grappler, his striking skills are nothing special, so I seriously doubt he'll be able to bang with a taller, faster, and more accurate GSP on his feet. And, since GSP already proved his formidable takedown defense in his last bout with Matt Hughes, I see this fight being mostly a standup war with GSP getting the knockout late in the first round.
Truth be told though, I'm not all that excited for UFC 69. Kind of a boring card if you ask me.

Randy Couture is my hero. There's just no other way to describe it. Coming off of a knockout loss, after a year-long layoff from fighting entirely, giving up 60 pounds and over a foot of reach to defeat the current and reigning heavyweight champion at the age of 43 is nothing short of phenomenal. No one outside of Couture's immediate family gave him the slightest chance of winning this fight, but he responded by doing what he does best: winning the fight in dominating fashion and turning his bashed nose up to those so-called "experts."
Best of all, Couture was humble in victory, giving a sincere thanks to the two people he admires most in his life: God and our troops. The sport could use more men like him, and the Noguiera brothers, Sean Sherk, and GSP (not loudmouthed street thugs with a punch like Tito Ortiz and Phil Baroni, steroid monkeys like Kevin Randleman and Vitor Belfort, and porno freaks like Andrei Arlovski and Stefan Bonnar).
Randy gets the winner of the Crocop/Gabe Gonzaga match (a match Crocop is very likely to win). On paper, this match heavily favors Crocop, but now I have officially stopped betting against Randy Couture.

By no means did I ever think serra was going to fight a standup match with GSP. However I think hes a good enough grappler that if he can consistently take down GSP he will win a boring bout simply through ring generalship.
Anyone catch the latest Pride bouts? We need another Crocop / Fedor Emelianenko match!

PRIDE was even crazier than UFC!
- Lil Nog was dropped in under 30 seconds by a relative nobody
- Frank Trigg dominated Welterweight Grand Prix winner, Kazuo Misaki, en route to a lopsided unanimous decision
- UFC midcarder, Nick Diaz, submitted lightweight champion, Takanori Gomi with an almost theoretical submission (the gogoplata)
and
- Dan Henderson knocks Wanderlei out cold to become the first individual to hold two titles in a major promotion simultaneously!!!
While it was a great night of fights (and a HUGE night of upsets), more importantly PRIDE's last show proved that the talent gap between the UFC and its overseas counterpart isn't as great as previously thought. Diaz never rose above midcard status in the UFC and Trigg is (unfortunately) best known for his losses to Matt Hughes and GSP in the promotion, but both managed to stop top PRIDE stars last Saturday. This makes a cross-promotion fight all the more enticing, but at the same time makes you notice just how well protected PRIDE's champions really are.
Gomi is not the lightweight champion, not in my book. He's lost two of his last five fights but has managed to keep his title due to the non-title-fight norm PRIDE employs. If you're the champion, every fight should be for the belt; none of this two-win-mandate bullshit.
Wanderlei really needs some time off to rest up and rethink his career (and maybe a can or two when he gets back to restore his confidence). In the meantime, he should step aside and let Shogun have a shot at the title now (not because I like Shogun, but because I'm sick of watching his lopsided victories against relatively subpar opposition).
Yea, I was thinking about making a topic about Pride. Diaz's Gogo was so sickening. He was dominating Gomi. I have always liked Diaz, and all his losses could have gone either way. He has never really been outclassed in his fights.
