Just saw a piece of this movie on TV last night. I'd seen it before, and it was mildly funny, relatively unfunny given the talent but still funnier than a LOT of comedies these days. But the scene that I caught last night had me in awe of Ben Stiller's comic genius. It's the scene where he confesses to Jack Black all about his envy and how he killed the horse... he literally rambles nonstop for like 5 mins and goes off on 100 tangents, I don't know how he pulled it off. HILARIOUS. If you haven't seen it, I'd say it's worth renting.

"And you gave our kids flan. All of a sudden my son's going, "Daddy, where's the flan?" It felt like a dagger in my heart every time he'd request flan. It made me feel little...I felt like a little man who didn't like flan. The horse was great, Nick. Of course you should have a horse. Does it have to be a white horse that you come galloping up on, and it neighs and makes the whole ... thing? Of course. Make it a beautiful horse that I think, honestly, didn't like me. It had nothing to do with anything, I never clicked with it. I think the horse sensed something. I think "horse sense" is a real thing. Because the horse had a feeling. He came over and sensed the envy I felt. He'd come over and eat the apples. He'd see me and give me a weird look. I'm telling you. You know how sometimes the side of a face and you get one eye? He would keep the eye on me and I knew he was thinking something."

I didn't really enjoy that movie. Last night Orange County was on. That one of my favorite Jack Black movies by far.

yeah but the point is, that scene is hilarious. Like I said, the movie itself was mediocre.

Ben stiller was good on his tv show and in there something about mary, everything else he was teh suck...
All he does anymore is put on a mustache and over act.
to be fair I havent seen envy so he might not toally suck in that...but i highly doubt it.

Nope, all he did was his confused and embarassed face the whole time.

I don't know anybody that could make some of those scenes as uncomfortable to watch as they would be in real life. You could feel the awkwardness. Like the scene in the car:
" Big day, Saturday. Nice car. Yes. This car is-- You got-- What do you use? Unleaded? Regular unleaded?"
"Premium."
"Uh-huh."
"Each of his characters is unique, displaying the full gamut of emotions on the spectrum (of emotions), ranging from: extremely quirky and neurotic to somewhat quirky and neurotic."
haha
but I really do like stiller though. the way he creates the awkwardness in the meet the parents movies is great. the first one especially. the prayer at the dinner table was hilarious
