i am reading the exams i gave my year three college students here in china and laughing my ass off. these are both answers from the same test:

in holland people can use drugs. they can shoot others. they can find townwoman. also there is homoeroticism. the government will pay women money with sex. freedoms choose for themselves. Reasons: they keep people working and not go to prison. the townwoman can go to see the doctor. they will use clean needles so they can't get aids. i agree with it.

and from a question on the civil rights' era:

but the blacks are seperate and have no citizenship at first. they intergret (sic) with whites. because the blacks are poor. in the world war's, the blacks are not allowed to go to restaurant to eat. blacks are getting hang, and whites hate blacks. now it is equal.

americans use guns to protect themselves. even children have guns in the usa. nearly every family has a gun all over the country. it seems impossible for the government to prohibit people from owning guns. people's lives are threatened because of guns. they may arise riot.

even though i can't read the japanese characters in that sign (can tell it's japanese cause of all the loops etc) i can pretty much translate that since i've been in asia so long:

it's probably at an aquarium or a sea world equivalent. it's telling you not to put your hands inside the dolphin cage.

I find it a little scary what these students think about the US. What part of china are you in? Is this mainland or taiwan or hongkong?

mainland. i am in jiangsu province in a major city about halfway between shanghai and nanjing. the chinese tend to know very little about the outside world, partly because there's so few foreigners here. they get a lot of their information from fictional movies.

a movie review on top gun:

i don't like this film very much. the story is a little boring. during the whole film you only see the fight plane flying here and there. the war film is not popular.
